Developing story on Mel Tucker

She’s not pulling down $9.5 mil a year to be the face of the football program, so whatever her culpability…it’s a moot point. It’s why that stipulation is in his contract…shame and dishonor. He’s supposed to attend coaches conventions, conference meetings…Hell recruit in parents living rooms and high schools with the mental image of him in his university comped Florida spank hotel far away from his wife and kids? HIS responsibilities rank first.
Agree with ya; however, I’ll teach my daughters to handle things differently than she did if ever confronted by that type of abuse.

Sometimes the best coaching hires are the ones which are avoided....We almost hired Mel Tucker back in 2017....luckily we avoided that trap, otherwise we would be in another situation that would set our program back another decade

Tucker's first official statement makes a lot more sense than the initial "story" published by the sports media hounds. As to whether it's accurate or not, who can say? But it makes a lot more sense.

What I said before does still stand though. This remains awfully convenient for Michigan State. Awfully, awfully convenient. Even if the charges are ultimately dropped, or the accusation found to be false, MSU is clearly going to use the situation to free themselves from his contract, and I'd bet they're not planning to wait around and find out what sticks.

When things aren't going all that well at your job/company, it's best not to do anything that would give them an excuse to fire you.

He's 9-7 since they gave him that near 9-figure guaranteed contract. That's more money that Heupel gets, both guaranteed and on a per-year basis. It's insane and they undoubtedly have buyer's remorse.

He admitted to jerking off on the phone with a third party contractor who he had influence over. It's harassment even if she wanted it. He's toast. For cause. Good riddance.

He’s being rail roaded. Did her end call button not work? They had 27 30+ minute phone calls, many after mid night. Oh and she just happened to delete her texts. How convenient.

Does not matter. The minute he admitted to her he was jerking it he was done. Hell she could have wanted it. Does not matter. It's harassment

He can be terminated for cause based just on what he's admitted to doing. Is he being railroaded? Probably. But he put himself in a position to be railroaded based on what he did.

In what world is it a good idea to have a sexual relationship of any kind with someone you have professional influence over?

He may be being railroaded but he admitted he got on the train.

C'mon, it's hard to have sympathy for a guy who is having this sort of phone call with someone when they're a company contractor he has at least some power over.

Sure, she might've set him up but unless her hand was reaching through the cellphone, he's an idiot.

What power did he have over her? Was she an AD employee? People meet and form relationships through work all the time. My wife and I met through work and have now been married 5+ years and have two wonderful kids. Did I harass her the first time we had any sort of sexual contact?

The much bigger issue is he is married (he clams they are estranged). But she also knew that while they were in this relationship and had no issue with it.

Even in HIS statement he admits that due to personnel and football issues, her presentation was postponed. While he says he didn't cancel it, he implies strongly that he had control over it. He COULD have cancelled it, obviously. That's power. If you can get a contractor's contract cancelled, you've got power over them.

The marriage issue is as disgusting as being a man of his age tugging on a phone call. I'd be embarrassed to be acting like a teenager and it's little wonder if that's his idea of a good time that he's having problems in his marriage. It's immature. You're making ridiculous money, at least go on a "recruiting trip" to her area and meet her like a grown man.

He's a joke. Seriously, a joke of a man.

Were you her supervisor or in a position to in any way benefit or hinder her career if things went bad? Sorry man, but that kinda thing might have flown in 1985 but in the year 2023 it's gonna get you fired.

Simple fact is when you are the highest paid employee of the school-EVERYTHING involving the football program touches you or falls on you eventually. Whether that's the guest speakers or the choices for the post game buffet.

Hell man, I got "that talk" from my boss at 20 years old at my crappy p/t job during school. Basically you want me to promote you and give you more money then you gotta stop banging the cashiers. I made that decision for a "monster" raise from $6/hr to $7.50/hr.

Give me $95 million and I'll be a hermit.

I’m not saying he’s not an idiot. I just don’t have sympathy for a consenting adult.

With that kind of money you can do the Hugh Freeze approach, just get a prepay phone, and hire extremely talented professionals who won't talk and won't get you in trouble.

It's just dumb. You're a multi millionaire. And you're having phone sex? with someone connected to the job that made you a multi-millionaire?

I'm not addressing her role at all. As far as I know, she's not in trouble because it's her company, I think.

I'm hearing "she could have hung up......." So could he. Neither did. Only one had the position of power in the relationship, consensual or not.

You just can't do that. As soon as it turned sexy, he should've cut it off. He didn't. He's getting what he deserves for HIS actions, not hers.
