Anyone with any degree of Basketball knowledge knew Hopson wasn't a 1st round draft pick, even in a weak draft. People who thought / said otherwise is clueless. Now he can drop his head and pout like he did during his time on the hill when things didn't go his way. I won't miss his whiny ass one little bit. He got exactly what he deserved.

You seriously posted the same exact post in two different threads?

Jesus Christ, people crawling out of the woodwork once again to take their shots at Hopson, a guy that didn't do anything wrong. I recommend you stop jacking off to Rivals/Scouts hype and *****ing about it when the player doesn't live up to that hype. Scotty was a good player for Tennessee, and handled himself with class both on and off the court.

I like Hopson a lot, mostly because of what an endearing and likable guy he always seemed to be on camera, but on the court he appeared to halfass it a lot. For three years. You don't earn a whole lot of support that way. Fans will forgive a lot, but they won't forgive a guy with giant talent who doesn't give effort.

The whole situation is sort of a damn shame. For Hopson, for UT basketball, all of it.

Everyone knows he floated and has consistency problems. He was still a good player for us, even if he never played up to his potential. Still think a finger needs to be pointed at the coach for allowing all that to happen for three years.

In no way does Scotty deserve the garbage he gets on here.

With a more strict coach, I think he gets drafted. meh.

It'd certainly help. I really don't think Scotty is a headcase, I think the floating issue is just a habit he's yet to be forced to break. We'll soon find out if he's capable of changing.

The only people who really thought he'd get drafted were apparently Scotty Hopson, Scotty Hopson's agent, his immediate family and all the "friends" that probably kept telling him he'd get drafted hoping to cash in on his fame which will never come to fruition now.

All you had to do was watch him play and you could see with your own eyes he wasn't ready for the NBA yet. He couldn't dribble past so-so guards in D1 and he was pouty and lazy. He needed a senior year to even have a shot at the NBA.

i think you thought he would :)

Although Harris and Hopson will both eventually be drafted whether it's this year or next.... and both were 5-star players. Would you agree those 2 players are our best? I guess Skylar McBee is since he wasn't highly ranked... he can be coached up too.

Hopson will not be drafted if he leaves now. . .unless you are talking Turkey."

Some posts he does deserve. The ones that don't feel bad for him yet wish him the best is a post he deserves. He made this bed and now has to lie in it. CCM could have focused on his fundamentals and improved his game to better himself as a player. So maybe he doesn't get drafted next year. He at least is in a better position to join a team in free agency.

Personally I do wish him the best but it's just so hard to feel for him. He gambled and lost despite people with his true best interest at heart telling him otherwise. With that said I hope the magic work him out and take a chance or do it with lighty.

I heard guys yesterday saying they hoped he wasn't drafted. This mentality blows my mind. Yeah, he left a lot to be desired, but he was still a Vol, and he still was a good starter for most of his three years at Tennessee. VFL!
I wish him the best.

Scotty would have benefited from another year in college, but still would not have been drafted. He has great talent, but never seemed to work on his weakness at UT. He also checked out in many games. Those are the things that kept him from being drafted. If he works hard on improvement, he has the talent to play in the NBA. Hope only the best for him in the future.

He should have listened to everyone and stayed in school instead of having delusional thoughts about himself being a top 10 pick when he only had 4 points against Michigan.

No, he shouldn't have. His draft stock will never be higher, and Tennessee basketball is a mess. His advice, and his decision, were correct. The goal now is to find a fit and make a roster as a free agent.

In several interviews, including those found on youtube, Hopson said he thought he was going to be the best player in the NBA and that he thought he was a high lottery pick. I like Scotty but turns out you could drop the lottery pick part, he was simply high.

what do you expect him to say? "I suck and just hope other people cant see it."

If you dont think that your the best you have no reason to even play.

There would not be enough players to have an NBA league if they followed your opinion. Most players know they aren't the best player in the NBA, but work to improve and be the best they can be. It is fantasy to think that realistic players think they are the best when they clearly know they aren't. Obviously, NBA executives thought Hopson had mental issues by making such statements. A kid who couldn't even be good enough to be drafted truly thinks he is the best player in the NBA????

Why is everyone hating on him for saying he is going to be top 10 and best player. He was simply combating the notion that he was a weak player. I'm sure his agent taught him what he needed to know to sell himself.

Would love to see him in the NBA one day and wish him the best of luck!

Hopson doesn't have the mental capacity to compete in the NBA. That said, he benefited from not getting picked up over some of the international players that went late.

He had no chance of getting drafted next year. The possible lockout pushed the best players to stay another year. Next year will be a stacked draft. He didn't get drafted this year, but he still had a better shot at it.

You never know. Cuonzo would have pushed him much harder and stayed on his ass and wouldn't baby him like Pearl did. There's no telling what Martin could have gotten out of him. Too bad we will never know. The potential was there.

For you guys blaming BP for Scotty's mental shortcomings: Why wouldn't a genius NBA HC or asst coach think they could fix him if it was that easy?
