Different camera angle on Pig Fumble. MUST SEE!

Did he have control? Probably not
Is is disputable? Yes, we are still disputing it.
Should it have been overturned? No, it should have stood with what was called on the field (either way).

If you are going to count a messageboard for the team in question as proof of "disputing" then nothing is ever indisputable.

He was running with it tucked to the right. When he reached out he lost control at about the 1 and was trying to grab it with his left near the goal line. Never got it. Just out if his reach and so fast.

Sucks.

So bad.

Just slipped.

nice try lol but I said parallel and the ball was not that deep in his hand. it was not touching his palm haha but I will give you the fact that if it was indisputable evidence that we wouldn't still be arguing about it

It's a Tennessee board; of course people are going to argue it.

of course they are, and you better believe that I have argued with uga fans via group texts that it was a td. I have over 250 texts from them because it got them all riled up which is exactly what I was trying to do. after giving them a hard time I wanted to come to a place where I can be honest. FUMBLE

you really need to look at the OP video and pause it. Pig had control of the ball until a second before he hit the pylon. This should be easy for you

Watch the video and answer this question. Why with the official standing so close(right on the goal line) to the play as it is happening(what about 1 to 2ft), don't you think he can see it better live as it is happening? Don't you think he should be able to see if he had control or not? That official made the call as a touchdown standing that close as it is happening live. He had the best view and he should be the one pissed cause the replay official took all control from him. This is why I say he was the ONLY official with that view and he made the call of a touchdown. If he had lost control don't you think he would have seen him lose control? We lost the game but played hard and did not quit and that is all I wanted other than a upset win.

At the risk of stating the most obvious thing ever:

It is much easier to see the details of a play with the benefit of slo-motion than it is in real time.

I could argue the sky is purple all day long. That doesn't make the issue disputable. It just makes me crazy and wrong. The same as people who can see how obvious it is that he lost the ball well before the goal line.

Then why have officials on the field if we can determine everything in slow motion. Let the replay official have all the power on every play. He can have one other official sitting on the sideline somewhere to relay all his decisions to the fans in the stands. He(replay official) should not be able to make that call all by himself sitting up in the booth,he cannot possibly see what the official that was looking dead at it sees. The game goes down as a loss and I except that but one man should not be allowed to impact a game in that manner. There is room for improvement on how they handle instant reply for any team college or pro.

Why cant penalties be reviewed? Look at it this way, official calls holding on the offense during a 70 plus touchdown run. This is a judgment call by the official on what he saw during the play. Ok if the coach thinks it wasn't holding then lets review it and see if it was really holding. You would be surprised how many holding calls or other calls would be reversed. Like I said it was a judgment call from that official on what he saw on that giving play, no different on the judgment call from the official that was on the goal line 1 to 2 ft away when he declared it a touchdown.

Human error is, and should be, part of the game. My point was only that your suggestion that the line judge, watching the play in real time, was likely to make a more accurate ruling than the replay official with slo-mo and every camera angle at his disposable is clearly a ridiculous notion.

This game whether it be college or pro generates millions of dollars so lets take the human error out of it and my suggestion of the replay official having all the power is awesome since he has slow motion and every camera angle at his disposal. We will need one more official to spot the ball at the correct spot at the replay officials ruling. We will never have a bad call ever again since he will have all the tools and do it in slow motion.

If it makes you feel better by going ad absurdum with my point, then fine. I actually responded to your argument.

I was just trying to take your logic about the replay official having a better view to make a decision on a call. If he has all the tools needed to make that call at that point of the game then he should have all the power. Wonder how many replay officials would have called it the same way?

Question for you:

If the call was as close or debatable as you believe it is, why hasn't there been a single member of the media, or even a respected blogger, who has taken up the issue? The game itself has received a lot of press.

Hey I've got an idea, why don't you go over to a bama board and dicuss it with them? Then come back and report what you find say in ahh three or four months.

Lot of folks think everyone in America has a grudge against UT. Officials, ESPN, TV play by play announcers, etc, etc. Folks, everyone does not conspire against UT.:salute::salute:

I swear the ones trying to argue that since the line judge called it a TD and since he was "right there" it was obviously not a fumble take the cake.

By that reasoning, we no longer have any right to complain about the Gafney catch; after all that ref was right there!

That's simple: This is a Tennessee Program that has fallen on hard times with so many coaching changes and off field problems in the past few years. This program is not respected by any media personal or respected bloggers. Guarantee you one thing if this would have happened to Alabama or Oregon or any other top ten program then you can bet your sweet arse that it would have been talked about a lot more. I can promise you one thing right now...THE BIG ORANGE IS COMING AND THEY WILL BE RESPECTED... STAY TUNED!!
