DirecTV and the SEC Network (merged)

Woot...and to the doubters :)

"Will DIRECTV carry the SEC Network?"

"We strongly believe every SEC fan should have access to the SEC Network on DIRECTV and customers can rest assured that is our goal as we continue our discussions with the owners of the channel. Contract talks happen on a different timetable with each TV provider, so unlike our competitors, we have really just begun our discussions and hope to have an update on status as we move closer to the network’s launch in August."

sorry if already posted. merge if necessary. :hi:

Directv was gonna carry from the beginning. Just wants some drama to stir their name up IMO. They'd lose way too many customers if they didn't carry it.

I just can't believe Comcast reached a deal so early. Maybe sometimes cable companies do listen.

Desperation often generates the ability to grasp for a rescuing hand.

Comcast is the worst provider I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing.:banghead2:

I got a similar message...patronizing & nondescript...upon inquiring about the SEC Network on DIRECTV. They even described the SEC Network like it was a subsidiary of ESPN & Disney. It was a put-off IMO.:whistling:

They probably described it that way because that's exactly what it is.

I always thought of Dish like it was a second rate wanna be but I'm leaning hard towards dropping cable and going with them. Anyone have Dish? Is it good during the season or do you still have to watch games on a virus infested website with a million pop-ups?

I have Directv and I got an email from them the other day. This us what they told me.

"We’re in the middle of productive discussions with Disney over ESPN’s new SEC Network and hope to be able to provide it as soon as we possibly can. Both DIRECTV and Disney understand and appreciate the unique bond between SEC teams and the communities they represent, many of which lack any professional teams. We are working cooperatively to ensure that everyone can still see their favorite SEC team play at the most reasonable value to all SEC fans and the rest of our customers throughout the Southeast.

I have Dish and have never been disappointed (so far--but, I am much happier with Dish than I ever was with Charter or Comcast).

I called to cancel my Direct TV Friday ( I got UVerse after 10 years with Direct). I told them the only reason was SEC network. The lady said that was happening a lot. Hopefully, the ones who are ditching them will speed up the process for everyone else. Maybe there is still power in the people. Lol.

Switching from Directv to UVerse does not bother Directv at all, since they are both owned by AT&T.

I have had Dish for years and have been mostly pleased with their service. I am not sure what you are referring to about a virus infested website with pop-ups. That never happens as far as I know.

My biggest complaint with Dish is they dropped the Atlanta Braves games on the weekends and I paid for the Fox sports package to watch them. They are in a price dispute with Fox and won't pay the extra fees to air the weekend games. I raised hell with them and they dropped my bill by $5 per month. The reason I am posting this is that these companies play games like this and believe us consumers are sheep that will let them get away with anything. I just hope the SEC network doesn't become too expensive and become a problem like I had with the Braves games. Sorry for the rant but I am really pixxed.

They are so patronizing, they don't get SEC fans. They think that the NFL Sunday Ticket is all football fans want. They don't get the obvious that even in southern cities that have NFL teams college football is still in more demand. The south is the only part of the county that prefers College football more than the NFL, and that's a fact that DTV just can't understand.

I work for AT&T and AT&T does not own DTV...yet...
it will likely be another 12-18 months, and that is after FCC approval... so they are still acting as 2 separate companies,as they should, until approval of a takeover happens... and that is the reason why Uverse has the SEC Network and DTV doesn't carry it yet...
