Because they are sick of the high prices and limited technology that DTV offers, they have really fallen behind Dish and the Hopper with Sling. Add the SEC Network to that and the fact that Dish supports the Vols and it's a no brainer.
DISH - The Official Satellite TV Provider of Tennessee Athletics
Dish is all gimmicks. DTV HD quality is the best in the business and you get more in the TV packages than with Dish. DTV will be getting the SEC network period. They will not be the only network to not have it, that's ridiculous. What they are going to do is make sure I pay less for it than these other bozos. I may have to miss one or two game, but I would have had to miss those games anyway before the creation of the SEC network.
Its simply silly to freak out over this. One month into owning Dish you'd realize the mistake and I'll be watching the Vols with DirecTV and a clearer picture.

I guess you live in Dirctv Fantasy land? Dish has won numerous awards for its service recently.

And they support the Vols, step out of Directv Fantsyland for a few minutes, and you might be very surprised to Learn what else is available.
Comcast is hosing fans outside the SEC area -- I will get it from them at the higher priced package this year and then downgrade it back after FB season --- maybe, probably go with someone else then.
I think its going to be that way with all the providers people outside the sec footprint will have to get it on a sports package.
This is an award for the TECHNOLOGY of the "Hopper".
What I'm talking about is the actual quality of the TV they provide.
DirecTV has the most high quality HD offering around and not only is the picture better, but they offer way more channels in HD and they have been doing this for years.
They can provide you some DVR that does this or that, but the actual quality of the picture it records is nothing like DTV.
Not so, do some research, Dish offers the same if not better HD picture quality than Directv. I would do it for you but you won't believe me anyway. So just keep on living in directv Fantasyland.
I've had both, my dad currently has Dish, there is no comparison. Dtv has better HD and DVR services... And that's not somebody doing comparison studies, that's looking at my TV, real world comparison... I don't know why you keep bashing DTV, it's like you work for Dish or something,if you like Dish, good for you... Collect your awards and place them on the mantle, some of us will be happy with our DTV FANTASYLAND...
I saw last night were DirecTV is starting to respond to people complaints about this on Facebook, This is what they told one person.
DIRECTV
I assure that we are not brushing you off. We know that SEC Network is important. We are working very hard to reach an agreement to bring SEC Network to you at the best deal possible.

Perhaps you'd better do a side-by-side comparison because I'm beginning to think you own a 720p television or maybe have never actually seen HDTV. Maybe you thought that just because they gave you an HD receiver that you would get HDTV on your picture tube TV? It doesnt work like that. I dont know your situation. Anyway, you probably better check because I think you are being duped.
Good post! That's like some folks I know who have said they can't tell a diffrence between a DVD & Blu-ray. I check there setup and they don't have the Blu-ray player hooked up to the HDTV with HDMI cables so of course the BR is going to look like a DVD with composite cables.
Perhaps he doesn't have his sat box hooked up with HDMI cables?
