DirecTV and the SEC Network (merged)

I have Dish and have never been disappointed (so far--but, I am much happier with Dish than I ever was with Charter or Comcast).

I see you have a Braves logo. Do you get the weekend games on Dish where you are? May be it is only blacked out in the Atlanta area.

People- Stop the insanity!

Until you miss a program on SEC NETWORK WHY ARE YOU CHANGING???

Directv will only get a lower price for their customers if they negotiate. Do you walk onto a car lot and pay full price??? Do you start a petition halfway through a season and drive off a coach that takes the team to sweet 16? Ohhh I forgot insanity rules volnation...

Because they are sick of the high prices and limited technology that DTV offers, they have really fallen behind Dish and the Hopper with Sling. Add the SEC Network to that and the fact that Dish supports the Vols and it's a no brainer.

From what I heard it was Direct that wanted to charge more for the SEC Network. Disney wanted it included with the package that already had espn and espn2. Maybe that's false, pretty sure on dish it's included in their top 120 package.

I called them and got $22 of my monthly bill without a contract so if they don't get the SEC Network I can still change. You might be able to get more depending on how large your bill is but you can make your wants known and save a little money without having to go through the hassle of changing services if your are satisfied. Then you still have the option to change later if they drag things out too long for your liking or fail to add the channel.

The guy I talked to was a big SEC fan so we shot the breeze about the new play-off system and which teams were on the way up or down while he processed the billing change.

In all honesty, the wife and kid have so much stuff stored on the DVR that they would kill me if they had to switch. The last time we had a DVR die you would have thought they lost a relative... so I know if I caused them to lose their stockpile of shows this time around that relative would be me.

I work for AT&T and AT&T does not own DTV...yet...
it will likely be another 12-18 months, and that is after FCC approval... so they are still acting as 2 separate companies,as they should, until approval of a takeover happens... and that is the reason why Uverse has the SEC Network and DTV doesn't carry it yet...

Thanks for the clarification. It appears as though the plan is to merge the two businesses at least from the press releases.

I get every braves game on either SportSouth or Fox Sports (channels 420 or 437) in my area, but I had to get the Americas Top 120 package to get that option. I also have ESPN, ESPN2, News, and ESPN U

According to the stuff that is out there when direct does reach a deal subscribers will get access to the watch espn app. I think that is apart of dish networks and Comcast's deal also.

I think a major part of the holdup is Disney shoving that turd of a network"Longhorn Network" as part of the total package along with ESPN,the SEC Network,etc... no one wants that channel,Disney knows they are losing money on it,unless they can package it with something everyone wants...

I think your right on this. But the good news is Comcast did their deal with no LHN so I would think that Direct TV can also.

I enjoy direct but this is irritating...

Go tell them to go FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF THERESELF, like I did I told them I was not going to fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff around with them all day long told them to stick the NFL package up there nose, you know what I mean this is VOL COUNTRY, the h2ll with the NFL.:)

I believe the CEO o Dish is a basketball Vol alum.

Go Big Orange!!!!

the CEO is actually a UK grad and big UK supporter...
But Charlie Ergen is the COB,co founder,UT Man and donor...so there was no chance Dish wasn't going to have this network, because they know exactly what it means to people in this area of the country...

Thank you, that's what I have been saying in post after post in this thread, "Dish gets it" and DirecTV does NOT get it. That's why DirecTV is still in negations and Dish came to terms months ago to put it in a basic package.

Dish getting hooked up tomorrow. I couldn't wait any longer. Lol. UT supporter and guaranteed SEC network "day 1" was the straw that broke the camel's back. .... (switched from Comcast).. that and we're big RV'ers during football season, so portability was huge. I love knowing some of my subscription dollars are going to directly impact THE program (even if our "contribution" is small). If I'm going to have to pay to see my beloved Vols play, I at least wanna know a portion of profit is going back into donations. ...
