I went there in 72 with my parents in a camping trailer, I went back in the early 90's with my kids and went back again in the early 2000's with the wife unit. Are you sure about that? I somewhat doubt that had Disney not moved into central Florida that no other company wouldn't have. Be that as it may, I think that Disney stepped on their own dick when they decided to tell Florida what to do with kids and it has backfired on them. Disney didn’t tell FL what to do with kids, Disney ****ed up by taking a side that didn’t help their business. DeSantis and company thought they could build political points by “fighting” Disney over something petty and he lost. DeSantis has pissed away a shot at the WH over this petty fight.

And yeah, Orlando would be a backwater without Disney.

Nintendo+Dreamwork+Universal are a real threat to Disney. Disney better wake up or they may lose their base.

They have ruined Star Wars with poor writing, director change, poor representation of classic characters, etc.

Marvel was good but is run its course now. Only so much you can do with super hero movies at this point. They are starting to get repetitive and many of the original cast are stepping away.

No good animated film since Moana

Constant live-action reboots with no originality.

Meanwhile Dreamworks/Illumination now have three solid hits that Disney can't touch with the Family Audience: Puss and Boots: The Last Wish, Minions: The Rise of Gru, and the Super Mario Brothers Movie.

Mario has already passed Mickey Mouse as the most iconic cartoony character. Nintendo plus movies (if done right) and theme parks has untapped potential. They already got Pokemon (Detective Pikachu) and can bring in Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong, more Mario, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, etc. Endless cartoon franchises that definitely strait up contend against Disney's IP lineup.

It is to be seen whether this is just a 1980s-style drought for Disney or its true downfall but the writing is on the wall and the ball is in their court. They have competition a float against them and their profitability and market continues to slowly decline.
