Quote button is easyUT basketball is older than 25 years. Which was the whole point. And even still, there were exceptional players, big wins, and yes even a little post-season success. Was it generally poor to mediocre? Yes. Should we act like UT basketball started Chris Lofton's sophomore year? No.
I like to ignore poor-mediocre history in favor of an excellant present.
Now that basketball season is over, there isn't going to be much to discuss. However, I'm not going to allow these continued debates to pop up in every single thread, relevant or not. I suppose I will have to make one thread where people can debate the issue until their heart is content... and prohibit it in other threads.
Then, instead of answering with questions, tell me what you are saying. I'm just trying to put two and two together as to what the issue is. Maybe you can spell it out for me more clearly?
We know you don't like Pearl. And from this thread, I gather that you are aggravated by people's lack of knowledge on the history of Tennessee basketball.
People are going to base their opinion of Tennessee basketball on what they have witnessed during their lifetime. While I can appreciate Tennessee's 1951 National Championship, the one in 1998 was much more meaningful because I was able to follow the entire season and live the experience. That said, I have a hard time understanding why it would be offensive if the younger generation doesn't go around praising how great Tennessee basketball was during the Ray Mears era.
Hey tennessee fans. Fire Pearl. WE WaNT TO BE MEDIOCRE AGAIN!!!!!
Please. His kind of retarded "ooohhh i agree with your post but i am going to ask a sarcastic question to even further prove my point" shuts nobody up. Just makes him look like another idiot incapable of debate.
You are totally missing the point. IT ISN'T AN EITHER/OR THING. We don't have to CHOOSE the past or the present. We get both, regardless of how anyone feels about them. We have a past, and not a bad one, whether you want to acknowledge it or honor it, or not. Enjoy our present. That's fine. I am a fan of the program and institution, not just one man's successful run.
I think it's more along the lines of people never acknowledging it happened, such as people saying "Bruce Pearl is UT basketball" and "Tennessee was terrible year in and year out until BP got here"
So every time Hat has called Pearl a "snake", he was replying to a personal attack on some other coach?
That's a good one.
