I'm taking a break. This thread is running in circles. I don't understand why some people think Pearl>Tennessee, Pearl=Tennessee, or Pearl made Tennessee.
No coach is greater than the program. I'm glad we have him and are having success. But he's not the program, and the program did exist without him.
Freak, you have been spot on in this thread. Well done.

I don't think many care that Pearl was a snitch. No one takes the 'AA seriously anyway. The fact that a coach has two vacated Final Fours and is still coaching at a major program is laughable.
It's a Tennessee site. Of course there is a double standard.
Unlike you, I will be happy if Pearl wins a national title here. For you, it will be one thing less for you to b**** about.
But gosh darnit, the sun did come up today didnt it. At least you'll still have that to occupy your b******* time.
Thank you Quickshot. Don't you have some whining to do to the Mods?
Can you please point me to the posts that claim Pearl is bigger than the program? I missed them but I would enjoy a chuckle.
....
My biggest issue is people keep referencing posts that I've never seen as the basis for their argument. Not saying they don't exist, I just haven't seen them.
Whatever. Just realize Pearl is UT as far as bball is concern. So I am comfortable with putting the man above the University of Tennessee. Regardless of what your idol Hatvol will tell you UT bball tradition was virtually nonexistent prior to Pearl. You still havent answered my question: How would you hire that is better than Pearl? That would actually come to UT?
Bruce Pearl is not above the University of Tennessee.
Bruce Pearl has had great success at the University of Tennessee.
The University of Tennessee could find a coach as good or better than Bruce Pearl if need be.

But, would you fire Bruce Pearl right now and hire John Calipari just because he gets better talent and has a better history in the tourney?
Some on here would. After all, in their eyes it helps the PROGRAM. And that's the most important thing.
