Dobbs has gotten FREAKIN HUGE

I am 6'2 and 205 and I dont consider myself huge, being 41 PROBABLY DOESNT HELP EITHER! Now my son who is going to be Sophmore next year in HS is 6'3 and weighing in at 290 he could be considered on the large side. He is the proverbial Road grader on the field!

Was this really necessary.?.?...

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just noticed this in an interview with Coach Jones by the AJC earlier this week:

Q&A with Tennessee coach Butch Jones | College recruiting blog

That's about 20 lbs of muscle he's put on since the end of the season. He's getting close to Tee's size when he was our QB (not to compare the two yet).

yes, I'm sure thats 20 pounds of muscle...in 2.5 months....thats not even obtainable on a strict steroid regiment...

Lol North made a few 3rd and long plays that helped.. Please. It's not like we lit it up on offense.. Hell we has to punt it with good field position a few times late because Worley couldn't move the ball.. Defense rose up that game

Hmm who threw North the ball?? We didn't light it up but we had a qb who managed the game and took care of the ball. Dobbs would not have done either of those things. He would have thrown bad ints and we would have lost probably by 2 TDs. And ill take punting the ball and giving the D a chance to make a stop vs throwing a pic any damn day of the week.

If the QB doesnt matter and North did everything by himself like you claim where was he at when Dobbs was playing?????

Whether its Worley, Dobbs, or Fergy...as long as our WR core is healthy...they are instantly upgraded. If I'm not mistaken, North was hurt or out for most of Dobb's action. Upgraded run game + North/Malone/Pearson/Pig/etc will help whomever is QB tremendously. Malone and North are those type of guys that just find a way to get separation and that makes it much easier on a young QB.

I can say that I'm 6'7" and that I one time put on 30 lbs in about four months because I was tired of being so scrawny. That's a bit taller than Dobbs but wearing my normal shorts and t-shirt that summer a lot of people didn't even notice I'd put on any weight. When you're tall, it really spreads out. I currently weigh 200 and would have to gain at least 30 more pounds to even begin being in the conversation of "Freaking Huge."

Im just saying if you just look at his stats its pretty clear he was over his head last year. 59% completion rate, 6 ints to 2 TDs in 5 games and oh btw the only two TDs game against UK in the very last game of the season. He threw 3 times as many ints as he did TDs but some still think he's our savior and I'm the one who doesnt understand.

...and people forget he beat USC. Say what you want about Norths catch but Worley still had to manage the game and not turn the ball over.

Wait Worley beat USCe? My bad I forgot about how he under threw several passes and receivers bailed him out.

It's North that won that game. Twice he saved Worleys backside in that game. Without him we lose.

For the most part I'm with ya K-town but Dobbs did have a couple of positives. Not only was Dobbs much better at running the ball he had no qualms doing it.

There's no question tho that Worley has the better command of the offense....and IMO the better chance to win.

It's true his stats weren't great but he played the toughest part of our schedule as well. Had Worley played his stats likely wouldn't be much better against those same teams.

Guess what without Worley we lose.

Maybe, maybe not. It's a team sport and it takes contributions from each player to win but without Norths two huge catches we definitely lose. With out Worley we may or may not lose.

Dobbs or any other QB could've played that game and not throw any ints or been a game manager and we still would've won. Worley didn't make or break us in that game.

From your post, I don't think you are aware of many things about last year:
-he wasn't planning on playing and didn't even arrive until august. Basically unheard of for a true freshman qb to arrive in the fall and start, much less against that schedule. Obviously it was too much. It is for most, which is a big reason why true freshmen qb's don't usually start. For every one "success", there are 20 that aren't.
-new scheme and system for the ENTIRE team and no older qb's to help him thru it. If you don't understand what all is involved with starting from scratch with a new staff and new system for the qb, OL and wr's you should learn a little more about it.
-OL on 3rd coach
-freshmen wr's and other wr's that wouldn't play for 90% of the other SEC teams
-No TE. Butch's last TE was leading receiver and in the nfl. We had an 18 yr old without a security blanket. Also almost unheard of.
-No break away rb
-injuries

I don't see anyone saying he is our savior so keep the drama. People just aren't writing him off because they understand the game and situation a little better than others.

Better than Worley's against tougher teams. Worley completed 55 %. Dobbs had no North to bail him out like Worley had, for half his games. He now has almost as much experience as Worley and played better teams than Worley. Better runner and throws it better. Worley 6 tds 4 ints vs USA, AP and WKU. His stats vs real teams 4tds 4 ints. Dobbs played all the really tough teams besides UO. Looked better than Worley vs Bama. He was a true freshman playing top ten teams. Wanna know Worley's fr stats? 1td 3 picks . Wow, 3 times as many tds to ints against a bunch of nobodies. Worley for his career has more ints than tds. He also throws in the dirt or over their head like no one I ever saw. Dobbs might have made bad rookie decisions and mistakes and threw picks but than can be corrected by film study and experience. Throwing in the dirt five yards away or over their head 5 yards as a Jr can not.

Is he a goblin because he lacks eyebrows?

Nope, silly play on the semi-rhyme of Dobb and Hob, Hobgoblin being one nasty villain known for throwing pumpkin bombs. Joshua being a quarterback throws bombs too. But mostly, because both are grossly underrated for what they do and kick butt when they focus on the job. Finally, I just got this strong feeling that Dobbs is going to illustrate with great clarity why Jones pushed so hard to flip him from Zona to Tenn. He's coming oh Mocker of Vols, he's coming.

Im just going to leave it at this...

Dobbs vs Vandy:
11/19 - 53 yards - 2.8 avg - 0 Tds - 2 ints

Worley vs USC:
19/34 - 179 yards - 9.4 avg - 1 td - 0 ints

Flame away Dobbs lovers. ..the stats don't lie.

No no...... K-Town is 100% correct. Without Worley, we lose that game.

Any attempt to dispute that is just grasping at straws.

So, are you saying because of the stats of these 2 games that Dobbs can never ever surpass Worley and become a superior quarterback?....ever?

I think everyone is saying Dobbs sucks now. And IMO, from what I saw on the field at least, he was more than an offseason away from being able to take the reigns as a starter.

From what I saw last year, I saw him a few mornings ago at breakfast and he seems taller and more stout. Could be 15 lbs of muscle and an inch on his overall height.

Post removed--responded to the wrong person. Sorry.

Let's face it, neither one of them managed the game or took care of the ball very well for the most part last season. There were 17 SEC QBs that attempted at least 120 passes last year (Dobbs was at 121 so I chose that as the cutoff). Worley ranked #16 in INT percentage and Dobbs #17. They were #15 and #16 in YPA. In short, they were both atrocious last year and give us little chance this year unless they have improved by leaps and bounds.
