Dobbs needs to be the starter

This offense is generally predicated on the Read Option, even though they have shown they can adapt it. With Worley, teams can discount him as a legit running threat. We saw last year. He's good for maybe one run all game long. Knowing that, and knowing he doesn't have much mobility, DE's can crash down 100% of the time on the runner, and the whole front 7 can focus on the TB.

He might be slightly more consistent in the passing game, in practice, but unless there is a big gap between them, I hope CBJ give Dobbs the job.

I agree the read option doesn't work with Worley! It'll happen eventually even though Worley is starter for now. Plus Dobbs was the QB making all the long passes in stride to our receivers. That's been mentioned several times. I don't have a problem with Worley starting but I'm fairly sure you'll see Dobbs at some point soon.

...for this offense to really thrive. Under normal circumstances, I'd go with seniority/experience....and thus Worley, but Dobbs lets this offense open up, full-throttle.

Was reading this article, by Fox Sports, about Freshmen who could contend for the Heisman.

LSU's Fournette was one of them; Hurd was another. But the problem here is, not only do we have a new front 5 on the OL, but playing Worley allows defenses to really key in on Hurd.

Dobbs is our best chance to keep defenses honest, off balance and always guessing. So, if all things are relatively equal among the QB's, in the passing game....Dobbs has to be the starter.

The way I look at it is this...Dobbs, hands down, looked the best in the Spring. Did he separate himself in practice, before that? Probably not. But, again, in a game environment, he easily looked the best. Give him the starting nod, and if he struggles a lot, then you can put Worley or Peterman in.

How many practices did you go to? Are you some sort of couch potato QB coach? Do you run a QB camp in your spare time?

Where did you become this expert?

Everything I have read, heard, has said Worley and Peterman have been the best.

Do you really know what time it is?

Someone forgot to call CBJ and tell him that Dobbs should be the starter. I wonder how many teams will give Worley any respect on the read option?

Worley did not run much last year because the staff did not trust the other qbs. They could not risk an injury. If they trust the others more this year, then he will run more. They ran very few true read options.

Thanks Coach! Oh wait your not the coach! CBJ said Worley is the starter so get behind Worley the team and coach or find someone else to pull for!

You are not at practice everyday and seeing what the trained professionals are seeing so please stop with you know more about who should start threads.

Not going to slam on you even though I don't agree with your assessment but I think a much more athletic Oline that can move laterally will GREATLY effect the ability of our running game especially wide and with Worleys increased speed and strength (heck man he's the size of a linebacker) I think you will see him running more, especially late in the game....I really don't think there's much doubt at this point that JW IS our best QB....

Which very much could be an advantage. If he starts getting a few good runs here and there when the defense is not expecting it, that's beneficial.

Teams will pick up on it eventually, but not before we smoke Florida this year in Neyland.

Sorry, Justin Worley won the competition fair and square. So get over it. And, according to everything I hear, Dobbs is more likely third string rather than second. Go Vols!

You are kidding... Dobbs is probably the fast QB UT has and he probably runs a 4.8 40....

I guess I'll have to repeat myself, for the mentally impaired....Nobody is saying we should be making the decisions for the staff, genius. :loco: This is a FAN forum....we all give our opinions here. Hello? Welcome to the internet? It was likely a close race and a very difficult decision to make. If it were not, there would have been no ongoing competition throughout training camp.

On most teams, if you have a Senior QB with playing experience and worth a flip, he gets the starting nod straight out of Spring practice

Some services had him down as a 4.6/40 based on camp performances...so what do you, a gay-tor, know? ...Other than Corch Meyers is no longer your corch? Go Gay'ta?

Apparently the coaching staff disagrees.

You used a film clip running against his own "D"??? Really??

<sigh>

There are some good Gator fans on this board I enjoy talking to and realize they are on a UT Sports message board and generally are well mannered...

And then there's you.

Go away.

Its the spring game and they don't hit the QBs in spring games. Nothing wrong with asking.

The guy can't throw the ball 50 yards! :eek:lol: He needs to be standing on the sideline with Butch holding that clipboard and working harder to get better in practice.
