Dobbs needs to be the starter

Most of those "talking heads" have been attending practices

They have all made remarks of Dobbs' inaccurate passing and how Worley and Peterman are preforming better than him

But by all means, disregard facts

It could be true that Worley performs decent in practice and not so well in games. I would say this is possible according to his past, and I've definitely play with some guys above the highschool level that couldn't perform under the Saturday/Sunday Lights.

This offense is generally predicated on the Read Option, even though they have shown they can adapt it. With Worley, teams can discount him as a legit running threat. We saw last year. He's good for maybe one run all game long. Knowing that, and knowing he doesn't have much mobility, DE's can crash down 100% of the time on the runner, and the whole front 7 can focus on the TB.

He might be slightly more consistent in the passing game, in practice, but unless there is a big gap between them, I hope CBJ give Dobbs the job.

This!!! I don't care which QB looks best in shorts throwing routes against air; Dobbs showed in the Orange & White game and other scrimmage situations that he can make this offense more explosive. It isn't just his mobility that makes him dangerous, it's also the fact that he's demonstrated an ability to connect consistently on the deep ball. By contrast, Justin Worley still seems plagued by chronic underthrows.

While Dobbs presents far more challenges for a defensive coordinator than Worley, I'm also intrigued by Peterman, who also has more mobility and arm strength than Worley. Of course I will trust Coach Jones' judgment over my own, but I think there's a reason he hasn't given the job to Worley by now...

Still trying to figure out why people think Dobbs is a great runner?

Great? No. Pretty good? Yes. 33 yd run and our leading rusher vs Mizzou. 32 yd run vs Auburn. 40 yd td run vs Ky. Had the game winning td run vs Vandy before it was called back. Those are 4 examples of some nice explosive runs as a QB.

What perplexes me most is that 9 people apparently agreed with the OP that in spite of all reports indicating Dobbs is somewhere between 3rd or 4th best in fall camp that he should still be the starter. Thank goodness and ghost of Gen. Neyland none of these are going to get to make the decision on who starts.

Well, at least I wont be dissapointed when WorleyBird stinks it up again, Worley might be the right start for this year. I'm just really hoping Dobbs can get his crap together. I expect Worely will be better than last year, but he's still Worley and his potential I dont think goes very high. Not usually a downer but if I'm going to be a downer about something at least I'm constistent and dont act like Worley is the answer to UT's success. He's just not good in game situations. Period.

I envision Dobbs coming off the bench for a change of pace package. Run some options on goaline, maybe a trick play with him in slot(maybe double pass, or handoff a reverse with him having option to run or throw). I think that is the best way to keep him involved, it would also allow our passing game to grow with the better passing qbs running the show. As a former coach, you show a few exotic formations with special play packages from a few different personnel, it makes it difficult to prepare for the surprises.

Yeah, the coaches should start the QB that is having the most issues. If anything, Dobbs needs to redshirt this year.

...for this offense to really thrive. Under normal circumstances, I'd go with seniority/experience....and thus Worley, but Dobbs lets this offense open up, full-throttle.

Was reading this article, by Fox Sports, about Freshmen who could contend for the Heisman.

LSU's Fournette was one of them; Hurd was another. But the problem here is, not only do we have a new front 5 on the OL, but playing Worley allows defenses to really key in on Hurd.

Dobbs is our best chance to keep defenses honest, off balance and always guessing. So, if all things are relatively equal among the QB's, in the passing game....Dobbs has to be the starter.

The way I look at it is this...Dobbs, hands down, looked the best in the Spring. Did he separate himself in practice, before that? Probably not. But, again, in a game environment, he easily looked the best. Give him the starting nod, and if he struggles a lot, then you can put Worley or Peterman in.

I agree with you 100% sometimes I wonder how in the world did Worley earn a scholarship at UT?

You really need to lurk more...

I'd like the Worleybird special paaaleease. It's a little disappointing Dobbs hasn't improved more. I say Worley, no doubt. Butch is complaining about leadership. Pick a QB and make him be a leader for cryin' out loud. No one knows who to follow.
