Dobbs Starting Tonight

Dobbs played great tonight, especially with no Henry and with a makeshift OL. Dallas stacked the box and brought pressure with Parsons all night.

Honestly, I hope he starts next week, no one rests, they win, and make it to the playoffs and he leads them in the playoffs. How's that for a story? Josh is a gamer. And a standup guy too.

That would be awesome. Him beating Trevor Lawrence to win the division and a playoff spot would be wild. Problem is I am pretty sure unless Jacksonville loses to the Texans they have the tiebreaker over the Titans since it would be a split. The tie breaking procedures for divisions is a bit convoluted but I think in this case it would come down to common opponents or if that's a wash conference record. If it TN can win on common opponents then it goes to conference record and Jags have 1 more win in conference than the Titans assuming the jags beat the Texans. The only real guarantee is if both Houston and the Titans beat them.

Wrong, winner of Titans/Jags make playoffs. Houston game means nothing, just like this game meant nothing

The titans Jags and Texans are in the same division bro lol. The Houston game means everything. You are correct about the Dallas game. Its likely why they trotted Dobbs out to see if he gave them a better chance next week than Malik.

If Jags beat Houston and Titans beat Jags they end with same records (8-9 9verall 6-6 division) and are 1-1 against each other in which case it goes to a tiebreaker sir. Jacksonville beat the Titans 36-22 in their first meeting. Maybe you don't follow the NFL but division mates play each other twice per season.

That would put them at either step 3 or 4 of the tiebreaking process.

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two Clubs
Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Strength of victory in all games.
Strength of schedule in all games
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed in all games.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games.
Best net points in common games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.

So basically unless Houston miraculously beats the Jags and the Titans get super healthy next week chances are slim. The Titans offense played like 3 starters tonight and their defense wasn't that much better off. It's not impossible and if he pulls it off winning next week and getting them to the playoffs it would be a huge PR win for the Titans. I think the chances Dobbs does not start next week after this performance is slim to none. I will also be rooting hard for the Texans to play spoiler Sunday.

The Houston game doesn't mean anything. The winner of Jags vs Titans wins the division and the #4 playoff spot. I don't know why or how as I don't watch NFL except tonight. They were saying it all night, that's why Tennessee sat players this week. Oddly enough, the loser can still get a wildcard...but the winner is definitely #4. All the talking heads were/are saying it over and over so somehow your post is missing a step and it's wrong.

It's fairly simple. The titans are currently 3-2, jaguars are 2-2 in the division.

If the Jaguars lose to Houston, but beat the Titans, they get in via the head to head.

If they beat Houston, but lose to the Titans, the Titans are in based on divisional record (4-2 vs 3-3 at that point).

That's to say, it doesn't matter what happens against Houston. They can lose that and still get in via the head to head. They can win that game and still not get in via divisional record.

Sorry I must have had my glasses off when I looked at standings for some reason I saw them as 3-1 not 2-2. I apologize sir.

Often what happens when pretty much an entire defense’s starters are sitting or injured. There’s a lot of guys out there who are rookies or have barely played.

Wait a minute! Wait! You mean, pro players can opt out of games too?? Where are the slew of Vols-player haters who crap on our UT players for opting out? Where are ya, haters, critics, condemners, where are ya???
