The titans Jags and Texans are in the same division bro lol. The Houston game means everything. You are correct about the Dallas game. Its likely why they trotted Dobbs out to see if he gave them a better chance next week than Malik.
If Jags beat Houston and Titans beat Jags they end with same records (8-9 9verall 6-6 division) and are 1-1 against each other in which case it goes to a tiebreaker sir. Jacksonville beat the Titans 36-22 in their first meeting. Maybe you don't follow the NFL but division mates play each other twice per season.
That would put them at either step 3 or 4 of the tiebreaking process.
If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

So basically unless Houston miraculously beats the Jags and the Titans get super healthy next week chances are slim. The Titans offense played like 3 starters tonight and their defense wasn't that much better off. It's not impossible and if he pulls it off winning next week and getting them to the playoffs it would be a huge PR win for the Titans. I think the chances Dobbs does not start next week after this performance is slim to none. I will also be rooting hard for the Texans to play spoiler Sunday.
Tennessee would have the better common game record regardless of how the Houston-Jacksonville game goes.
Yes, they would have split their series, and yes they would both be 3-2 in the division going into the game or 3-2 vs 2-3 going into the game.
Either way, the winner would have a better divisional record regardless of the Houston-Jacksonville game outcome.
For fun, let’s go further, looking at the theoretical (albeit now impossible) “what if they finished with the same record and divisional records” outcome (which isn’t currently possible anymore).
Tennessee, beat Indianapolis twice, beat Houston and the lost to Houston, beat Washington, lost to the Giants, beat Las Vegas, beat Denver, lost to Kansas City, lost to Philadelphia, lost to the Chargers, lost to the Cowboys. Their common games record is 6-6.
Going into this weekend’s game with Houston, Jacksonville: beat Washington, lost to Indianapolis twice, lost to Houston, lost to Washington, beat the Chargers, lost to the Eagles, lost to the Giants, lost to the Broncos, beat Los Vegas, lost to the Chiefs, and beat the Cowboys. Their common games record is currently 4-7 (becoming either 5-7 or 4-8 after this weekend).
Regardless of the outcome of the Jacksonville-Houston game, if both teams finished 8-9 the Jaguars would lose the common games tiebreaker 6-6 to 5-7 or 4-8.
It’s a “win and you’re in” scenario next week. If Jacksonville wins (depending on this week’s game against Houston) they either have the better overall record or get the tiebreaker by sweeping the Titans. If the Titans win, the Titans either have the better overall record or get in by the better divisional record (which one would depend on the Jacksonville-Houston result).
