Dobbs Starting Tonight

Been a Titans fan since they came to Nashville. I understand he’s a rookie and the OL and OC are bad… but Malik Willis is the worst QB I’ve seen in a Titans uniform.
Dobbs clearly gives them a much better shot at beating Jax and making the playoffs. Dobbs did better than anyone could have hoped considering the circumstances.

I noticed it too from Vrabel. I'm kinda ticked off on that last drive we didn't try and see about putting some points on the board instead of just rolling over and taking the L
Can't see him trotting Malik out there next week, if he does someone needs to look at his finances and see if he's sport betting lol

He probably didn’t want to put any more yards on Dobbs’ stat sheet.

I have no idea what Vrabel was thinking with his comments after the game. He wasn’t very complimentary of Dobbs at all. It’s almost like he was forced to play Dobbs and didn’t like the fact that he looked far superior to the other QB option.

But it is obvious to anyone who has watched both QBs play that it isn’t even close. Dobbs was far from perfect in this game, but at least he looked like an NFL QB and actually moved the team. Given the penalties and lack of running game, it was impressive.

If Vrabel sits Dobbs next week and trots out another sub-100 yard passing game…I don’t know how that can sit well with the fans and the locker room. I think Vrabel is a higher-tier coach, but he has me puzzled here.

Pure speculation on my part but this isn't "going to plan" for Vrabel. I think he might be a bit frustrated, which to be honest is understandable. Obviously the hope was for there to be something of use from their new rookie QB but after Tannehill went down (who wasn't exactly killing it either) they're with a starter out for the season and a guy off a practice squad clearly playing better than the guy they just drafted.

I think you might have answered your own question in that he was indeed "forced to play Dobbs". That doesn't mean he can't appreciate how Dobbs played but the fact it's a bit of a mess now. The guy they "want" to be starting next week doesn't look like the best choice. He can't be happy that's the situation they're facing.

I'll be real curious to see who is getting the most reps in practice this week or if they outright state who the starter will be early in the week. It "should" be Dobbs and there's not, IMHO, any compelling argument that could be made otherwise.

Yeah can't have him coming in with more yards than Malik has had all year in one game..
Gotta say, for not having Henry in and most of the starters out playing against the Cowboy starter Dobbs played good, the team did too except for Delany and rookie defense mistakes but the D showed up to play last night. With Henry and the other starters. I think we win lastnight

Dobbs is starting next week. If Vrabel starts Malik you can put me firmly in the fire Vrabel camp. You bench a guy who played with the B team against the Cowboys A team, kept the game close and still almost put up more yards in one game than Malik has all year and looked better than Malik because you could clearly see Josh making adjustments at the line to the play calls.

Willis is terrible. Cut bait immediately unless he wants to catch passes. Dobbs did good. The Titans have only scored 20 all season and he put up 13 with a few days to prepare in his first start ever. And he didn't have much help. The O line sucked. The receivers dropped a lot of passes. The defense, while getting some TOs also could not stop almost ANY 3rd and long attempt it seemed. Then there's the penalties. Also, I thought Dobbs took a helmet to the face at one point that wasn't called. He was set up to fail, but actually did pretty well. There is NO reason why he shouldn't play going forward for this Titans team until Tannehill comes back. I'm in favor of keeping him permanently as the #2 QB at least.

30 on defense was pretty bad.

What makes Vrabel even more puzzling is that his other QBs this season have been Tannehill and Willis. At best, Tannehill is s game manager…but certainly nowhere close to a top-tier QB. Willis, to put it nicely, is just incompetent at this level. So, it’s not like Dobbs is filling in for Manning or Brady.

The tepid response makes no sense. If anything, Vrabel should feel energized that his team can beat Jax with a performance like that.

The only other possibility I can think of would be if, for who the hell knows what reason, somebody above Vrabel says to start Malik as some kind of "show of faith" and keep Josh very close by if Willis doesn't play well.

I'm with you though. Willis is just a rookie so being told "Don't worry kid, you'll get your chance, you just don't have the years in the league this other guy has." shouldn't be that big a deal. There's just no meritocracy reason to consider Malik over Josh at this point.

Well before lastnight there were plenty on reddit saying they were just resting Willis so he wouldn't get hurt and ready for the Jags game. I and a few others where like naw this is seeing what they have in Dobbs and to be ready to start next week.

Vrabel sure didn't seem excited though. I mean we lost but you'd think he'd be happy with his B/C and a QB that only 8 days ago making it a game. I'd be licking my chops at the thought of the rest of the starters and Henry in the backfield with Dobbs. That's gonna make it hard to stack the box because Dobbs can run and make the passes also.

Josh had to wait 6yrs to get his start, Malik can wait a little longer but honestly I don't see Malik as the type to be a big baby about it and more like what's good for the team. Heck they even showed him in Dobbs fist bumping and coming out the tunnel together. If Malik takes and honest assessment of himself, he knows he's got a lot to learn

If they don't start Dobbs then the Titan's suck as an organization and deserve to lose.

Hate me or love me, I don't care. Dobbs is obvious at this point. Get with it or GTFO.

Watch them start Willis and he will throw for around 50 yards in the first half. Then the big question is do you go with Dobbs in the second half? Which would be much more damaging to Willis than giving Dobbs the start in the first place.

Everyone argues with me, but Dobbs is on small side.

His height is barely adequate.

But, at 215 pounds, he would struggle to make it thru 17 games.

Does have excellent intelligence which helps matters.

I hope they start him again at Jacksonville.

Right. It doesn't really help the long-term plan that your best available QB is only under contract for one more game.

He looked small to me last night, too. I don’t see him as a full-time starter, but he sure looks like he can be a solid backup.

Why the heck does Vrabel look like he lost his dog and don't want to be there? SMH at this his responses

Coaching Malpractice if they roll Malik out there period. If anyone thinks after last night Malik gives them the best chance, he should have played last night because he needed all the reps he could get.

The Titans are woeful at QB, even with Tannehill. Heck Dobbs might just be the best they have. This team needs some direction. You can only ride a hall of fame RB
so long. No real wide receivers, off. Line, . Fired GM so maybe they’ll go for tanking. Wouldn’t be hard for them to do.
