And? My wife originally got into the architecture program @ UT decided she wanted to teach, graduated with a major in history, minor in poli-sci and master's in education and graduated with a 3.9 and did in 3.5 years.

I could care less what anything "means to you."

and my buddy got an online degree and masters and makes masters level teacher pay. fact is she made the decision to teach and i imagine is happy with it? so what's the problem.

Just pointing out there are "dumb" people in every profession and one friend's ACT proves nothing. Plenty of dumb people in the sales world...

I don't care about his weight.

He has a straightforward style which right now is refreshing but I think over time would obviously be viewed as too abrupt. He's absolutist about everything, insists on one point of view. Although that has a nice ring to it when the policy and economic problems we face are so muddled, I feel like what is now "productive straight talk" would during a campaign quickly become viewed as "very unproductive intransigence."

Don't think he's viable.

Sales people are paid based on productivity, teachers are paid for showing up.

And there are plenty of dumb people in the private sector that have salaries they don't deserve.

Yeah but they aren't on MY dime & i don't know of any private sector jobs that have tenure built in which allow bad teachers to keep their jobs, in many instances, opposed to a better more qualified teacher that are more deserving of the position based on performance but doesn't have the experience and are the first to be cut in a funding shortage and this shows in our kids test scores......Proving that just throwing money at a problem without raising standards is asinine.

You have a viable alternative?

Texas has one of the highest Debt to GDP ratios in the nation, complemented by a real growth rate that is materially as low as California's (2.9 and 2.7%, respectively).

I am referring to new business and job creation that, when compared to most states, is doing good.Still not where we should be though.

You see, one of my gripes is over regulation. I realize some is necessary but their should be balance. For instance,I have a friend who is OTR truck driver. He has a mid-late 2000's model Peterbuilt tractor. He recently drove from east tennessee to the California coast to pick up a load but was told that his truck was one year to old and didn't meet the regulations to be on that lot to pick up that load.I am unsure of all of the specifics, but he doesn't lie. So he had to hire another driver to get the load and bring it to him just outside of the gates for him to haul it back. now consider too that the load he was picking up , many items were from China, Taiwan, etc..which have very few regulations to manufacture and distribute......Therein lies the rub, we are buying goods and trading with communist countries with little regulation and as soon as it hits our shores we are smothering our own hard working people that are trying to scratch out a living with massive regulation in many instances(see California) and then trumpet how we are great stewards of the planet. if we are that dedicated to the environment why are we allowing those cargo ships to reach our shores......in there lies the Hypocrisy that sickens me.

People want to believe in magic answers via partisan politics.

I like the magic, basic math rather, of such ideas as not spending more money out than you have coming in. I don't think that concept should be labeled as a D or R concept ,but i sure will vote for which ever D or R decides to try it for a change.

This argument is nonsense. Once again one of our "expert" posters is painting an entire group with a broad brush based on his LIMITED experience inside his own little bubble. I love it :birgits_giggle:

I agree with everything you've said about teachers. The dumbest statement of all time is that there are a bunch of people that would do it for 25K.

Let me correct you if I may. There are exponentially more dumb people in sales than teaching. It's not even close

making a judgement on limited experience i see?

Whatever. I am EXTREMELY confident I know more teachers than you.

Paper pusher??? YOu have no idea, as usual, as to what you're talking about. You may have some of these guys fooled, but not me. I wish I had a dollar for every completely uninformed post you make.

There are a lot of people in sales(and some that do very well financially) that couldn't graduate from college. NO ONE is teaching without graduating from college

Would have been a more effective insult had you used "dime", "nickel", or "penny", as many people don't usually like to carry just one or two of those things around. Not many people just drop dollar bills in the change jars next to the registers, though.

i'm EXTREMELY confident I know more salesmen than you. and you know teachers because what? you fill out their expense reports? this is like arguing my gardener has a great insight into my intelligence.

judging people's intelligence on their level in school won't get you too far. Lots of 4.0's that wouldn't last a day on the road

graduating from some two bit college does not make you smarter than someone that had the sense to not waste their time. bill gates didn't graduate from college, among many other billionares, and he seemed to do ok.

Never said it did. I was talking about people who couldn't graduate from college because it was too hard for them.

Don't know where you got that I do teachers' expense reports, but as usual, you are completely uninformed.

You are providing some laughs though. Keep them coming little boy

and your evidence that a lot of salesman couldnt' graduate from college because it was too hard for them is. . .?

You've already detailed your paper pusher job and how you take pride in accomplishments of other people rather than your own. changing your moniker 3 times doesn't erase my memory.
