Does anybody else miss Bruce Pearl?

I do, and interstingly enough, i also miss Fulmer. That doesnt mean that i dont like and support our current coaches though. I started really following and loving UT Football when Fulmer was OC, and then HC, and started really following and loving UT basketball when Pearl was hired. Thats why i miss them, they both represented something special to me. That being said, was time for both to go and Im excited about our future.

Fulmer didn't have what Pearl had. Pearl had enormous charisma, which worked on his players above all. And he was brilliant with the media. He was poised to have some great recruiting years because of what a good job he was doing selling the program and the university. Fulmer, on the other hand, was boring, which is not altogether a bad thing. At least he didn't throw fits on the sideline like the girly little coach we have now. Can you imagine Bear Bryant ever behaving like Dooley does when a call or a play goes wrong? I can't. I guess you could argue that Bryant was boring, too. In the end, it's just too bad that Bruce used bad judgment in such a critical circumstance.

In all honesty, Maymon looked like garbage in the time he did receive last year. His decision-making was questionable at best. He shot the ball nearly every time he touched it and was less than accurate.

Sounds as if he needed a little coaching.

It's funny that none of the Bruce Pearl nut huggers come around at all, but when a thread comes up about him, they come out from under his cover to post.

It's Bruce's fault 100%, nobody else to blame.

Sure, we could have bruce right now.

and be banned from the tourney for two years.

Pearl deserves a lot of credit for energizing the program and turning it around. But Martin's ceiling as a coach is higher than Bruce's was. I think we traded up.

With the SEC and NCAA tourney's just ahead, it's disappointing that we don't have Bruce Pearl at the helm. If Pearl had stayed we would have had Scotty Hopson, and he would have been a factor. While Coach Martin is doing his best ... it just isn't the same.

I miss him :( but Coach Martin appears to be doing a pretty good job with losing Hopson and Harris.

Why can't you so-called Vol fans credit Bruce Pearl with energizing the UT bb program to heights NEVER before reached? I also really appreciate what Coach C. Martin brings to the table. So move on, folks! 'Tis whutitiz! GBO!

Orange Beer > Orange Nehi. Or, after all, any beer. I miss the excitement of the early Bruce Pearl teams. But thats about it.

Well it would not have made any difference this year. And to be honest I have a feeling Tennessee won't make the NCAAs next year either.

I would take Pearl over Martin any day of the week. However, I hope Martin proves me wrong.

Why does this topic still come up? Pearl is gone, let it go.

I miss Bruce. I love that he made basketball at Tennessee into something again.

I like Cuonzo. We look like a real team under him.

I miss his charisma. You can't take away from the fact that he gave us a 30+ win season, a taste at #1 and down to the elite 8 in the dance. Maybe a couple of years down the road we can do it again. Time will tell.

Pearl made his decisions and paid the price. I loved Bruce as much as anyone but we have our coach now. it's time to let it go

I really don't get how so many people don't appreciate this.
