Don't Bash Tee

Wow! From some of the posts here, you would think that he urinated on a Nativity Scene or came out in support of Al Qaeda. Tee's wife apparently likes Los Angeles. USC coaches get to hobnob with Hollywood stars. Also I doubt that the pressure is a great at USC as it would be here. Tee graduated from UT over a decade ago. He was born in Alabama. He has worked at Kentucky, New Mexico and now USC.

You act like he should have thought of Tennessee the way that Robert E. Lee thought of Virginia when Lincoln asked him to take over the Union army.

It ain't happenin folks.

Some people have expectations of loyalty, sense of the time, the sense about what a decision may mean long term if made at this moment in time. I'm not saying I fault Tee for not taking the job I don't--I understand family dynamics, the concept of wanting a job but it not being right at the moment.

But I'm glad some folks do still think like Robert E. Lee thought of Virginia--otherwise we'd all sell out to the highest bidder.

I'm sorry, but being a former player doesn't necessarily make one a VFL. If you don't think enough of your alma mater to come and help them when THEY NEED YOU, you're not a VFL. You're a former player. That's where it ends.

He says it's a business decision. Well it's one hell of a decision to not only refuse to help your alma mater, but to willfully funk us over. How is that? Cause his job is snatching the best players in our own back yard. Recruiting-wise, he chose to continue to compete AGAINST us...to continue to hurt us, instead of helping.

VFL? Hardly. He turned that card in today. I honestly don't care if I ever hear his name again.

You summed up exactly why no one wants to come back here. With so-called fans like you, why would they want to come back? The entitlement from so-called fans is ridiculous.

Besides, you clowns just stay on your computers and don't do anything about the real problems holding Tennessee football back on the Hill.

I AM upset with the lack of forethought our athletic director put in to the public relations backlash a rejection by Tee would cause.

Hart is grossly unprepared and inept at all things related to the public view of Tennessee.

Exhibit A: The resignation of Pat Summitt
Exhibit B: The recent football coaching searches including comments made by Gruden's agent, the public rejection by Charlie Strong and the public rejection by Tee Martin.

Hart is just not the man for Tennessee. I'm sorry, he's just NOT.

Just said on TSN that his wife is in the "entertainment" industry.

And that he wanted a half a milli to coach WR's. Incredible.

Posted this in another thread - will post here, too.

It's business. He has financial considerations, family considerations, etc...

If Kiffin screws the pooch next season with his 50,000 5 star recruits (the way he did this year), gets canned, and Tee is looking for a job, we'd damn well better find a space for him.

Tee's wife, Toya, is from St. Louis. She had a pop hit in 2001. She has taken time off to raise kids. She wants back in the business. Knoxville is a long long way from LA. I know you think that his orange blood should draw him here no matter what, but LA is a much better place for her career.

This x10,000. Why would anyone else want to come back here if Tee doesn't. Just awful PR...

Oh yea, he flew across the country at UT expense.

Its what it is folks, he chose Kiffin, job, and location over his alma mater. He should have never made the trip if he wasnt sure.

Spin it anyway you want.

That's absurd. Flying out job candidates for any business, be it football or finance, requires paying for them to fly to you for the interview. In industries that its common to move a lot, its not unusual to cover the cost of flying the family out too. In no other line of work are you expected to commit to taking the job if offered simply because you flew in for an interview on the prospective company's dime. Flying out for the interview then turning it down isn't a slap in the face or a betrayal.

Everyone needs to stop crying in their Wheaties over a decision that involves a heck of a lot more for Martin and his family than it does for you and your family. Not a single person on this board sacrificed more for the University for less payoff than a former player who got a scholarship than once all the time and work involved pays around minimum wage with a risk of paralysis and brain damage. He doesn't owe the university anything.

She probably didn't want him being more famous than her in Knoxville. Oh well. I wish he would have come but I don't blame him for staying in Cali.

Tee did something we all wish we could, he played football for the Vols, and now he turns his back on the fans who supported him, I would never choose Kiffin over UT, ecspecially when they needed me the most, but Tee is from Bammer originally, maybe Nick Saban paying him to stay in LA is his Business decision........
