like it or not. doolsey isnt going anywhere. this program has to have stability and there is NO ONE worth a crap right now who will take this job especially gruden.

with that said, let it play out another year and wait for a big fish, a realistic fish.

thats reality folks. believe it.

Nope... I support the VOLS.. regardless of the record.

I was there when they won the NC.. I am here now in their darkest hour.. Whatever happens.. happens... I am not the AD...

All I can do is support my team..

Furthermore...not once did I ever say I wanted this team to lose out (although one could argue that the month of October was "losing out" when it comes down to it.)

I will never root against this team no matter the consequence.

I know recruits, and Dave Hart, are regulars on Volnation. Their decisions sway back and forth with every post... So, at the risk of single-handedly setting UT Football back 30 years, I give you my top 5 favorite reasons why you can't fire Dooley...

5) You can't fire Dooley, he took over a dumpster fire...
Rebuttal: Very true, but Dooley wasn't suppose to maintain the dumpster fire.
2010, 6-7, could have won two more games (LSU; UNC).
2011, 5-6, could have won three more games (UF, UGA, UK).
2012, 3-5, could have won four more games (UF, UGA, Miss St, USCjr)
This isn't progress, this is bad trend.

4) You can't fire Dooley, he needs more time.
Rebuttal: As a coordinator...? Agreed. Eight members of last year's coaching staff agrees with me as well. Dooley willl need more time in year three of his next coaching job too.

3) You can't fire Dooley, he has rebuilt the roster/ he doesn't have enough SEC caliber players on the roster.
Rebuttal: Well... which is it? If he has rebuilt the roster, where are the wins? If he doesn't have enough SEC caliber players, what's the problem with recruiting? Some say he's only recruited two classes. Be careful with this excuse Dooley supporters... most of his best players are Juniors you say he didn't recruit.

2) You can't fire Dooley, he's not the one throwing interceptions, fumbling the ball or missing tackles...
Rebuttal: So, it's not the coaches problem the players don't have fundamentals? How do we solve this problem... send the entire team to summer football camp at Alabama?

And my favorite reason why you can't fire Dooley is...

1) You can't fire Dooley, our schedule had many highly ranked teams.
Rebuttal: So the schedule/conference is too tough for Dooley. You got me... I can't argue with that.

I will really be upset if Dooley is brought back next year. I love Tennessee football, but Dooley is killing me every week. All I want for Christmas would be a Dooley firing, but I would be very thankful for Thanksgiving if he's fired in November too.

If Dooley is back next year, I'll support the team as usual, but I have to admit my enthusiasm for the season will probably be at an all time low.

Some of you act like UT is a charity case, instead of a top job in the country's top conference. A lot of coaches would love to have this job. Kiffin was our first choice, and he saw opportunity here. Dooley was a bad bet made by a panicked AD with a timing issue, but he also saw opportunity.

Bad choices lead to bad results. We'll take the time and choose wisely next time. Change can be very positive and energizing for both the team and the fanbase. We need that.

I support the school, but I'm not happy with our coach's performance.

We have the talent to be competitive yet we never win a meaningful game.

He's had opportunities and has always failed to deliver - 3 years is enough time to win 1 game of consequence.

If we hire a winner we will soon be rolling.

So if they fire Dooley tomorrow, then that suddenly becomes the right move? and whoever they hire immediately becomes the perfect hire, and whatever happens, that guy's doing a great job until the moment he gets fired too?

It's your prerogative if you want to be that mindless about it, obviously, but what I don't get is why you'd then bother to log into a message board to talk about it. What further do you have to discuss?

So having an opinion that I support the Vols no matter what makes me mindless? Ok.. so do you want me to be negative? So If I say "Fired Dooley Now" That makes me not be mindless?

As far as the right move.. I have no idea what goes on in the AD. I have to trust them. I think Dooley gets another year. Thats why I posted this thread. But if the AD proves me wrong.. well. I am just wrong.... probably happens to all of us everyday. Being wrong about something.

In three years CDD has brought this team from NOTHING.... and made a team that has fought against established TOP 15 teams to the BITTER END. (Minus UF, Bama simply outclassed our tallent.)

Hate me all you want but what I am spitting is the truth. CDD has rebuilt a DESTROYED program to a competitive level with a handfull of Kiff's Sr's, A mix of Kiff's Jr's and CDD's Jr's, and two CDD full recruiting classes.

Thats RIGHT CDD's first full recruiting class are SOPHOMORES..!

CDD has taken a rag tag crew and scared the pants off of three top 15 teams this year.

Now you folks want this team to LOSE OUT... just so you can be right. PATHETIC

Rebuilding the UT program is an understatement... CDD has had to rebuild the Vols Football program from the checkerboards UP.

We play in the SEC. We ALWAYS play top 15 teams.

In 3 years DD has brought this team from a downward spiral to rock bottom. Deal with it man. Your guy is an absolute failure. He can't coach, can't win a big game, and is just keeping the seat warm for a coach that is worth a damn.

Actually, he was already on the bottom when he got here. All the spiraling down was done by the time he took the job.

And no, my head is not up his hinder parts.. thats insane. seriously.. are you 12?

We at least got some results under the previous 2 coaches.

From what I remember CLK beat UGA, UK, and USC.

How's your boy doing against the SEC?

Pretty bad actually.. and he isn't my "boy"

He is the current HC of the Vols.. whom I support whole heartedly.

No particular opinion makes you mindless. What makes you seem mindless about it is that you don't appear to have any opinion at all other than Whatever UT Is Doing Is Automatically Right. It's really difficult for me to imagine having that much blind faith in Joe DiPietro, Jimmy Cheek, and an AD whom we hired about 30 minutes ago.

I think UT deserves better than Dooley and honestly don't see why they even gave this no name a shot at such a prestigious school.

I want my team to have the BEST money can buy.

How do you distinguish supporting your team yet at the same time tastefully expressing dissatisfaction?

I am absolutely not happy with losing games. I have tried to take a critical look at areas that are showing individual improvement. I think we have a pretty awesome O line right now... Etc. etc.

But I also understand just how far down this program was.

Look...a big part of being a coach of anything is ensuring the players GET BETTER as time goes on. Dooley has had 3 years and does anyone think any part of this team has gotten better? We have one of the worst defenses in the country.....and our QB seems to always find a way to lose the game in the closing moments. Defensive secondary is absolutey horrible and has been for years. Is that Dooley's fault? Probably not but he needs to get some balls and fire the DB coach who apparently couldn't successfully coach a pee wee team.

Dooley is the Captain of the ship....when it goes down or runs aground, he is ultimately responsible.
