Dooley Isn't going anywhere!

So now you want given wins. SMFH

Vandy...UK...the two cupcakes we schedule. Yeah, those should be games that you look at and KNOW they will be filed in the far left column. Teams like UAfreakinB should not take UT into overtime.

/you should be stripped of yours if you don't agree with ME! •^)

Right. Anyone saying that Dooley is definitively getting fired is doing so to make themselves feel better and not from any factual basis. Everyone who feels that way can express that opinion, but that's all it is. At this point no one has inside sources or has any clue of what's going to happen.

Look buddy, I find the whole Gruden a nice break from the embarrassment we ALL see on Saturdays. Do I hope beyond hope? Yes. Do I understand the unlikeliness of it? Of course.

How is resigning itself to cellar dweller of the conference UT helped to build reasonable? Its not gonna take a savior. It will take a guy with above .500 record that knows a little bit about winning college football games at a level a little higher than a freaking TE coach. We have an administrator...we need a coach to compete in the SEC. Dooley is NOT THE ANSWER.

So you admit that Gruden is unlikely to come here. Cool. Do you also admit the situation that Dooley took over was very difficult? I mean, being in the SEC and all? I'm not trying to be a smart azz. I also don't think, or feel that UT will be relegated to mediocrity if we keep Dooley. The players, to a man, made it publicly clear that they support our coach - their coach. If the players feel that they are being coached up and that he is doing the right thing for UT - then I have no reason to not support our coach. Dooley's W/L record sucks. No denying that. Call me a fool, sunshine pumper, whatever, but I've been around the block for 50 some odd years, and know a quality man when I see one. Dooley fits the bill.

SMFH. We all expect more. It's just that some reasonable people understand the situation. Unreasonable people "feel" that some "savior" will come and lead our team to the promised land. It is simply not as easy as you think it is. You groodenites are making fools out of yourselves.

The situation is that we have an apparently incompetent coach who can't win football games. Just because a messiah complex has developed around one of the candidates doesn't mean that dozens of others wouldn't do.

Today was supposed to be the day.

Big huge announcement about CDD resigning and CJG being the next coach.

Well, we see how that went.

CDD is our HC. Simply not going to change this year or next.

Lets support our Vols and get behind the program.. enough with wanting Dooley's head and what not.

GO VOLS... BEAT TROY!!!!

Dooley stays?

Fine then...

Just be prepared to:

1. Accept defeat on a regular basis.

2. Embrace mediocrity year-in-year-out.

3. Revel in humiliating defeat on a national stage on a weekly basis.

4. Take pride in the whipping our rivals give us year after year after year.

5. Sing the praises of Rocky Top while we get buried beneath a mountain of losses every season.

NOPE

I'd rather keep believing we'll get somebody who can win games someday rather than drink the Doolaid.

Dooley is gone. In this day and age you just can't afford to go 3 years in the SEC and not beat a decent SEC team. The powers to be are playing it close to the vest and won't make an announcement until they know they have one of their main targets in place. I was really hoping Dooley was the guy...I hate being a fan of the school who seemingly has to continue to hold auditions to find the guy who will bring us back to prominence. I think the big time boosters are tired of giving guys auditions...they are going to go after Gruden until he just flat out says "No way"...aka. like what Bama did with Saban. Money is not an object this time.

I have said all along that dooley is done but wont be public until we have our guy. They dont want a public coaching search. Will it be gruden? Who knows, i believe they have reached out already. I have been told that dooley is gone though. Believe what you want.

unlike you. I will support my vols even if you are the coach! People are not going to boycott the vols. All it would take would be a win over Oregon or fld.

At this point, the Mayan Apocalypse is more likely than Dooley winning against Oregon or Florida or any good team next year.

:eek:hmy::eek:hmy:Hart's waiting to get the head count in Neyland Saturday before deciding. If it's over 60000 then Dooley stays with a one year extension. If less than 60000 he will have to think about it some more.

Do I think Dooley needs to go? Yes! Is that relevant? NO! Because I don't give a sh*t who coaches the VOLS I'm supporting them. Its easy being a fan when we're on top, the real fans are the ones who stick around at a time like this.

Heaven forbid the road get a little rough. People on here fuss saying they see the team quit in the face of adversity well some of the responses on this thread appear hypocritical when you're doing the exact same thing!

So all of yall saying you won't buy anymore UT shirts or go to games next season... Good to hell with you! Just means more seating options when I buy my tickets, and more shirts in my size to chose from!

How in the hell would anybody be a bandwagon UT fan at this point?

Very true. I don't think people understand the definition of bandwagon fan.

i bleed orange but i'm not watching another year of tennessee football if that loser is still here. i can find something else to do than get mad and drunk and yell at the tv. the guy is never going to win anything, if you can't see it then i just don't understand. it is a sure thing. if the AD dept doesn't want to field a winning team or even try to, why waste your time.

Bandwagon fan - encyclopedia article about Bandwagon fan.

A bandwagon fan, also called a "fair-weather fan" supports their team only when it is winning. [1] They will often ""jump" on and off the "bandwagon" of the teams having the most recent success in the major professional and college sports. They generally don't care if their adopted team has a bad season, or even a bad game, as they ultimately don't care too much about the team.[2] Boston Herald sports columnist Tony Massarotti equates bandwagon fans to church patrons who show up only at Christmas. [3] Ali Hasnain of the Daily Utah Chronicle calls bandwagon fans, people (who) root for teams or players who they have no clue about. [4]

A bandwagon fan will often leave a game before completion should their adopted team be losing.[5]

A bandwagon fan will cheer for another team than his own if his own team is not doing well enough. [6]

A bandwagon fan will only support “their” team when they are successful, but claim they have always supported them.

Sorry for the late reply guys, kids' homework comes before VN.

The people calling out fans as non-fans for wanting Dooley fired are the same idiots that call fellow Americans unpatriotic when they disagree with the government. I speak out when I disagree with something and I'm a loyal American (USMC 91-95), and a loyal Vol fan (birth until death). You can take your bandwagon name calling and shove it straight up your ass. You are become part of the problem instead of the solution.

I see a way that Dooley is here next year. But he will be looking at 30,000 to 40,000 empty seats in Neyland Stadium. Having followed UT football since 1970 this is the worst leadership this program has ever had. The guy was an average Sunbelt conference coach and a horrible SEC coach.

You are being overly generous with the word 'average' IMO

While I appreciate your service I don't see the relevance of mentioning it in your post. Also I don't think you have a good grasp on what is being said on this thread! Finally I fail to see correlation in your comparison.
Let me simplify:

I believe people are being called bandwagon fans because they are threatening to not watch the Vols next year or buy merchandise. In a sense boycotting the Vols because they're not playing well.

Disagreeing with the government just like believing Dooley needs fired is perfectly acceptable. Hell I believe our current President needs "fired" that doesn't make me unpatriotic.

Turning your back on your team well i guess if you want to make outlandish comparisons that would be the equivalent to turning your back on your country a.k.a expatriating.

So if you would be so kind and shove that up your ass!

I will watch Tennessee play on TV but I will not attend a game until a) Dooley is fired or b) Dooley actually wins a game of substance. Given his history (a) will happen first.

That said the Dooley haters are being accused of turning their back on their team (hence the unpatriotic comparison). Our only form of protest to make a change is not giving the university any form of revenue. It is our only way of voting in this situation. I am not turning my back on my team. Instead I am trying to get them the coach they deserve by the only means I have available.

You may disagree, but that doesn't make me any less of a fan than you. Blind loyalty can yield negative results.

The ones that I consider turning their backs to the team are those "fans" and I use that term loosely that claim they won't spend another dime on a game, merchandise, or even watch from home. Now do I believe these people? Well frankly no! Because win or lose theres nothing better than watching the Vols on any given Saturday.

Watching at home is still supporting the team, therefore I don't see why you have taken offense to the bandwagon comments. From the points you have raised you do not fit the description.

0 - 15 against ranked opponents.

This is what you support.

no...this is what I support....the outstanding young men who bust their arses each day to play for a university they chose and a coaching staff who keeps getting a little better each game/year....i am not in such a big hurry to win that coveted national championship this year...i can wait til it is time.....because when it all comes down to it...it is just a game......

Sad... Part of The Vol Fan base is whats SAD..

I choose to support my Vols. I HATE losing... HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT... But I CHOOSE to be a VFL.. plain and simple. Doesn't matter who is wearing the power T on the sidelines.

You folks that expect top 10 results right now are simply DREAMING....Did you really expect to beat 5 top 15 teams this year? REALLY?

It seems that people don't get the mess this program was in. When CLK left the cupbords were bare. CDD had to rebuild this program from the GROUND UP.. I dare ANY coach to do better with the level of tallent we have had over the past 3 years.

In three years CDD has brought this team from NOTHING.... and made a team that has fought against established TOP 15 teams to the BITTER END. (Minus UF, Bama simply outclassed our tallent.)

Hate me all you want but what I am spitting is the truth. CDD has rebuilt a DESTROYED program to a competitive level with a handfull of Kiff's Sr's, A mix of Kiff's Jr's and CDD's Jr's, and two CDD full recruiting classes.

Thats RIGHT CDD's first full recruiting class are SOPHOMORES..!

CDD has taken a rag tag crew and scared the pants off of three top 15 teams this year.

Now you folks want this team to LOSE OUT... just so you can be right. PATHETIC

Rebuilding the UT program is an understatement... CDD has had to rebuild the Vols Football program from the checkerboards UP.

Cheers... Always a VFL..

GO VOLS... BEAT TROY!!!!!!

Supporting the young men on the team is a complete given, we all do, mo matter what we may claim in the heat of a moment after an emotional loss.

No prize awarded to you for that.

Being content with the results Dooley has delivered thus far is being complacent with under-achieving, bottom line.
