Dooley Isn't going anywhere!

Why would you assume that the entire coaching change scenario was riding on whether or not there was an announcement today? That announcement could come tomorrow, or at the end of the season. It doesn't mean ANYTHING that there wasn't a presser today

I don't think any announcement is forth coming about CDD until the end of the season. If and when it happens, and Dooley is given his marching papers, the powers that be will already have a coach lined up to replace Dooley. JMO

C'mon man, I've read alot of your posts.

You don't actually believe anyone likes losing.

sort of seems like you do, eventhough dooley has won nothing in 3 years at tennessee, you seem to have accepted this and ready for another one next year. whats better is you would pay to see us lose and like it, because in my theory if you didn't like it you wouldn't go. i'm really confused. i'm a bandwagon fan because i'm protesting a incompetant coach, and AD dept that doesn't care, and you have accepted the vols losing and wouldn't change a thing.

We were ranked this year before the Florida game.

What has that to do with anything. So, we were supposed to be good. Well, they, just like us were wrong. It became clear after Florida that we suck again. That only proves that the talent was recognized; however, it was not developed into a competitive team. It really shouldn't come as a revelation to anyone, considering head Coach Dooley's record. I will reiterate this. Why would any one assume DD could come into the SEC and be a success. He certainly hasn't proven successful elsewhere. I do respect his effort, but I also recognize his limitations. He just isn't the man for the job and for us to get that man, UT will have to open up the bank. It takes money to make money!

Today was supposed to be the day.

Big huge announcement about CDD resigning and CJG being the next coach.

Well, we see how that went.

CDD is our HC. Simply not going to change this year or next.

Lets support our Vols and get behind the program.. enough with wanting Dooley's head and what not.

GO VOLS... BEAT TROY!!!!

Not a troll, been here since '08. I just have a different perspective on the JG hire. He's pushing 50 and makes 4.3 mil/year working a pretty cushy job. Why would he leave that to take over a program that would probably take a few years to rebuild? Plus UT would have to pay Dooley and Gruden, and I'm guessing it would take more than 4.3 mill/year for Gruden alone. It just doesn't add up. I don't think it would be smart for UT to fire Dooley during the season. What message would that send for the next potential HC? IF UT fires Dooley, I think it'll look for a younger asst. who doesn't require as much $. JMHO. :hi:

He will be our coach for 2012.

The only way I think he will be fired in-season is if we lose to Vanderbilt. He will most likely be fired after Kentucky.

I'm with you brother. us true fans know that once we beat Troy everything will be alright and the Vols will be back. Noveber gonna be awesome!!!!

Alabama gave Mike Dubose and Mike Shula 4 years each.

Just sayin'
Shula got a 4th season because he went 10-2 in his third season. Dubose went 10-3 and won the SECCG in his third year. If Dooley can win 10 games this season, I say bring him back for 2013.

The whole premise of this 1 small paragraph is that they may not fire Dooley due to money. The part that is missing is that there will be even less money with a reduced number of people in the stands.

A good coach with a winning team fills the seats and the AD coffers.

Exactly, it will be to the point that it will be to expensive not to have fired him this year.

I think the decision has been made, but given where we are right now he will finish out the season and be released/resigned after the UK game. Between now and then his replacement will be targeted and in place shortly after Dooley is made public.

Are you leaning toward the Gruden thing or to you believe it's going to be another target? (Smart, Strong, Petersen or another name that hasn't been mentioned)

TIA

Dooley can win the rest by 70 and he'll still be gone. Honestly.

If Gruden, Cutcliffe, Sonny Dykes, Patterson, Charlie Strong, Al Golden or Kirby Smart don't want the job, then Dooley will remain our coach by de-fault.....

I agree. CDD will not be fired this year. Yes we have lost 5 games but whoever thought we were going to beat Bama this year is a fool. We should have beat GA, MissSt, and SC but how can you say it is the coaches fault when they are top 10 teams and we are not ranked. We had turnovers in the game that costed us at the wrong time. I say give the coach 1 more year to fix the D and if not then yes there is REASON enough to fire him but my goodness the O was bad last year but it is working better than ever this year. We loose 3 games max next year.

Who will pay the ever decreasing revenue? Haslam? you?

Ok, somebody taking a guess at when Dooley gets fired is going to do one of two things.. make him look like he knows what hes talking about or 2 well it doesnt matter cause its the internet and he can hide from the wrath!! Dooley is gone be patient, although I dont get the reasoning with waiting it out. Heck I understand you're waiting to hire the next "big name coach" either Gruden wants it or he doesn't. If he does great!!! If not hire Petrino who cares!!!!!!

If TN does fire Dooley this year, which I doubt, why would you want to hire Gruden he barely has above a .500 win percentage in the nfl. You go after proven winner and take a chance and offer him big money to come and finish the job that Dooley started. I know Dooley doesn't have a good winning percentage either but he just started being a head coach a few years ago. Go back and look at Saban's first few years he wasn't winning national championships, yes some will say he was going .500 though, he was learning and he had a .500 in the Big Ten. Dooley is doing this in the SEC playing Fl, Bama, Ga, and SC year in and year out and not to mention having LSU 2 years in a row. He has faced a lot of great teams and if you aren't ranked in the top 5-10 how do you expect to beat them when the players on their team are seniors and 5star freshmen and we are playing freshmen and sophmores.

i know, plus kentucky had a lot of seniors and it was in lexingston. i think ut a couple years ago was probably a lot worse off than michigan st was when saban got hired. i know they was on probation or something, but we had kiffin, so it was probly worse here. Also we still getting better every year and recruiting is aewsome.

Just because a bunch of rumors turned out to be not true doesn't mean he's not going to get fired at the end of the season.

Dont mean he will be fired either. As I remember it Director Hart asked for improvement over last year. Beating the last for team on the schedule and going to a bowl is improvement. The fans need to quit feeding on all the rumors get behind the team and let the people that know do there jobs! All the negativity behind the coach is killing recruiting!

This is the deal. At this point, Dooley's fate is a self-fulfilling prophesy. What 5 star recruits are going to commit to a university/coach with this much turmoil? Dooley is a lame duck. Doesn't matter if his scheme's and coaching were as as good as Nick Saban. Tennessee can't win with him anymore because of perception.

PS...how do you guys think a new coach would affect the decisions of our juniors to come back next year?
