I've been saying that for a long time. Sal has been the problem all season. Hasn't the D given up a record number of yards combined this season?
SAL didnt make the decision to play for OT with the worst redzone defense in the country......you dont take the ball out of the hands of the one bright spot on the team and then expect a defense with a 98% redzone fail rate to stop a team that gets the ball on the 25.....he cant coach. he has to go
Dooley staying and Sal going?
I'm assuming the number is few, but (as stated in a thread earlier) you're hearing more and more people talking today like maybe it's not all on Dooley.
Personally, I think the best thing would be for both to go IF there's a proven better replacement for Dooley. Sal needs to go no matter what. Players aren't responding to him. I don't know if its because he has no depth so he can't threaten to bench them or what, but this is all bad.
On the other hand, Dooley, Cheney, and the offense have all been together for 3 years and our offense is something we can honestly be proud of. IMO If we can't find someone who is proven, who we know for a fact would be better than Dooley, then Dooley needs to stay and we need to keep building on the offense. Sal needs to go no matter what and the defense needs a complete makeover.
The fact that Hart told CDD that he "had not made a decision" is all I really need at this point. I promise you if Hart was going to retain him for next season he wouldn't have said this. I agree with what's been stated on here numerous times...the decision was made after the MSU game and Hart's getting his ducks in a row before making any thing official. "Not a matter of if, but when".

On the inside I have been like."f'it lose so we can fire this bum"....but on the outside I am like, "win boys come on you can do it"....but then on the inside I am like, "wait a second...Dooley is our coach we will find a way to lose"...then suddenly I am like, "damn we just lost...should I be surprised?"
So now I am like, "this weekend we are going to be facing a Vandy team with less talent than us...but a much better coach"...on the inside....then on the outside I am all, "kill Vandy kill Vandy"....but now on the inside I am like, "Dooley gets outcoached yet again Saturday...just like every other game".
So now I know we are going to be having this same conversation next Saturday. Can we even celebrate beating Vandy...even if we do beat them? Do we celebrate beating Kentucky....even if we beat them? Seven....7....SEC losses in a row. We beat Vandy and Kentucky and then what...a bowl game? That is great and all....but why do I...as well as the Vol fans I have spoken to since Saturday night feel so defeated right now?
Because we have a proven loser that is going to be sinking the ship this Saturday....and possibly next season. There are some people happy about that though....everyone on our schedule.
No way he's retained. Hart should've told him because Dooley is right, the conflicting reports are not fair to his family.
I believe he knows, or has known. I'm sure him and his family are setting the proper things in motion. I do not think Hart would do a man that way. Too many others depending on him.
However it shakes out, I hope Coach Dooley and his family get through this with as little inconvenience as possible.
As for me, there are no hard feelings. He came here and gave his best effort, I have no doubt.
Unfortunately for him, and all of us, he is simply not prepared for such a monumental task. He was a risk, and slighly unproven. Our AD took a chance, and it has bitten us all in the proverbial arse.
No more "Taking Chances"!! Get a proven winner!!eace2:
