Dooley says he is not being fired...

No Dooley wasnt the last choice, we could of had Sumlin......we see how he is doing at AtM in his FIRST year..

Yes you are right, but at that time Sumlin hadn't really shown how good he is now. Hamilton still made a bad decision. Instead of Dooley he could have at least hired Kippy as the interim. So I blame him for most of this mess.

Dooley staying and Sal going?

I'm assuming the number is few, but (as stated in a thread earlier) you're hearing more and more people talking today like maybe it's not all on Dooley.

Personally, I think the best thing would be for both to go IF there's a proven better replacement for Dooley. Sal needs to go no matter what. Players aren't responding to him. I don't know if its because he has no depth so he can't threaten to bench them or what, but this is all bad.

On the other hand, Dooley, Cheney, and the offense have all been together for 3 years and our offense is something we can honestly be proud of. IMO If we can't find someone who is proven, who we know for a fact would be better than Dooley, then Dooley needs to stay and we need to keep building on the offense. Sal needs to go no matter what and the defense needs a complete makeover.

his decision making with his coaching ass at UT on the line last week sealed his fate. Whereas I would've considered it an option before, depending on availability of new coaches of course, its moot now.

You can't go down like that when you know what's at stake. We stopped swinging because we were afraid to get punched back, when we could have simply punt the ball out of bounds on 4th down.

It all worked itself out saturday.

If Dooley isn't getting fired after the Mizou loss, then Hart is just actively trying to destroy the program. Either way, a Vandy loss won't change things.

I hate Vanderbilt. They're one of our oldest rivals and it would sicken me to lose to them. I don't care if Hitler is coaching our team this weekend. I want them to beat the s%$# out of Vandy.

On the inside I have been like."f'it lose so we can fire this bum"....but on the outside I am like, "win boys come on you can do it"....but then on the inside I am like, "wait a second...Dooley is our coach we will find a way to lose"...then suddenly I am like, "damn we just lost...should I be surprised?"

So now I am like, "this weekend we are going to be facing a Vandy team with less talent than us...but a much better coach"...on the inside....then on the outside I am all, "kill Vandy kill Vandy"....but now on the inside I am like, "Dooley gets outcoached yet again Saturday...just like every other game".

So now I know we are going to be having this same conversation next Saturday. Can we even celebrate beating Vandy...even if we do beat them? Do we celebrate beating Kentucky....even if we beat them? Seven....7....SEC losses in a row. We beat Vandy and Kentucky and then what...a bowl game? That is great and all....but why do I...as well as the Vol fans I have spoken to since Saturday night feel so defeated right now?

Because we have a proven loser that is going to be sinking the ship this Saturday....and possibly next season. There are some people happy about that though....everyone on our schedule.

With Hunter and Patterson leaving for NFL and other posters saying Bray's Dad said if Dooley returns that Bray is also NFL bound I think next year will be a tough year. We will need a coach who can do more with less and Dooley has proven he cannot win when he has more talent. So I say HELL NO!

Best to end it now. TN actually will be in a pretty good position to find a HC this year, as TN may be the best CFB spot to open up this year.

Before the Mizzou loss, I would have been at least open to the idea of Coach Dooley coming back -- assuming that he ran the table and we finished on a 3 game win streak and a bowl game.

However, the way we collapsed against Mizzou in the 2nd half ... finding new and creative ways of losing ... has finished me on this topic. Coach Dooley, despite his best efforts, has allowed a culture of losing to take root. He can't stay in place once that has happened.

I want Jay Graham and Pittman to stay becuase those two aspects of our team have been bright spots in an otherwise pathetic year. However, Dooley must now go in my opinion. Of course, I'm not a decision-maker, and I'll always root for the Vols no matter what.

Dooley stating that he had no faith in our offense to pick up the first down ended it for me. We lead most Offensive stats in the SEC and he had no faith.

I've been saying that for a long time. Sal has been the problem all season. Hasn't the D given up a record number of yards combined this season?

yet he expected the offense to score without issue in OT.

I believe Dooley has overthought well too much while coaching. Maybe he'll get another opportunity somewhere smaller and learn from his mistakes.
