Free throw attempts being even don't indicate the game was called correctly. But go ahead and see through blue glasses. The fact tIhat the free throw attempts were even before Duke went ahead by 2 or 3 possessions late in the game says otherwise. But who am I to get in the way of a long established narrative?

Miami certainly did not help themselves. Even free throw attempts says nothing about how well a game is called. If one team actually fouls 40 times and the other team 10 times, and they both get the same number of fouls called and free throw attempts that's not good officiating. But it does indicate it was called fairly and consistently. I think most that participate regularly in thread would say I call it like I see it.The referees didn’t decide the game, Miami not taking advantage of their chances at the line did.
Part of the "art" of playing basketball is knowing how the refs call ****. If it's close to a wash then good job by both coaches. To pretend otherwise is ignorant.Miami certainly did not help themselves. Even free throw attempts says nothing about how well a game is called. Anyway, enjoy the win.
Agreed. While selfishly I like having more games here in NYC, anywhere in North Carolina is a much better venue for the ACC Tournament. Barclays is generally sterile and emotionless for this
Look, I don’t agree with EasternVol that Duke got favorable treatment from the refs. However, the number of fouls or even free throws being equal doesn’t necessarily mean that a game was called correctly, evenly or consistently. It just means that the total number of fouls that were called on each team were the same. One of those teams could have theoretically committed many more fouls that went uncalled. But it does indicate it was called fairly and consistently. I agree in terms of #’s. More than anything, I was referring to last nights game. I thought the officials let them play for the most part . I thought they maybe tightened up a bit on Miami because they were playing very physical on their hedges with the high ball screen.Look, I don’t agree with EasternVol that Duke got favorable treatment from the refs.
