Where have you been the past 6-7 years?
Gotcha. I’m new to this thread, albeit not the forum in general.
Williams was definitely a polarizing guy, like K.
I have no issues saying that Smith, Williams, andRatahem, K, are all great coaches but arrogant flawed men. To be successful at that level, I think you almost HAVE to have an “@$$hole” streak. Not to say they are bad people or evil or anything, but neither are they the pillars of sainthood some folks want them to be.
Duke isn't exactly squeaky clean. It wasn't 50-50. He's won more then they have. Also he started at the bottom and had to build up. He has won obviously more at Duke then UNC has. Even though they have won a bunch too. Bottom line. If K coaches UNC he would be their greatest coach too. And that's ignoring the whole 25 years of cheating we all know UNC did. Turned out Carolina way was dirty as hell
Yeah. You were minimizing the severity of the situation with the way you phrased it. You know that though.Am I wrong lol?
If you say soYeah. You were minimizing the severity of the situation with the way you phrased it. You know that though.
I don’t need to go back and forth with you or anyone else about K’s record in 94-95. That’s something of little consequence to me. If you need the wins over that team to get to .500 vs K be my guest. Maybe if Roy hadn’t choked away multiple games to lesser Duke teams Coach K would be sub .500 vs UNC, but he isn’t. It’s something that UNC fans worry about more than Duke fans anyway. Which is pretty much par for the course. You spend way more time worrying about Duke than Duke does worrying about you.

No need for anything to continue.Guys, I love to argue as much as anyone, but the final K record vs UNC is 50-48. Literally 1 game over .500. A dead heat for all intents and purposes (or intensive purposes on the FB board). I don’t get what you are arguing over.
I had no idea what the record was until I googled it last night. I think it’s fitting that it’s a dead heat. I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about past games, just the next one.
Now...back to the spat......
I try to equate it to having Florida located in Farragut and both teams are mostly playing at a mid 1990’s to early 2000’s level of play.Coach K's 50-48 record against against NC is one reason of many that Duke-NC is the GOAT rivalry in all of sports...... Arguably the GOAT coach of all-time against a school that is located only 7 miles away...... Whew, try to beat that. On top of that, UNC might be one of the 1st schools, if not the first to have a rookie coach win a national championship. And this was only about a month ago was very lucky to get into the tournament....... Great stuff, great history.
The Carolina/Duke rivalry is a FAR more even rivalry than UT/Florida has ever been. Even when UT was consistently a very good team in the 90's, we still took it in the shorts against Florida more often than not.I try to equate it to having Florida located in Farragut and both teams are mostly playing at a mid 1990’s to early 2000’s level of play.
I agree . I used that comparison because that’s when we were at our best and the intensity of the rivalry was at its highest. From 1998-2006 every game with the exception of the 2002 monsoon debacle was pretty much a 4 quarter game. The Carolina/Duke rivalry is a FAR more even rivalry than UT/Florida has ever been. So the -4 basically means that Kansas is considered the favorite and starts the game with a 4 point lead. As a bettor, If you take the points, that means you are betting on the underdog. So they would need to either win the game outright or lose by three points or less for you to win the bet. If you lay the points, you’re betting on the favorite, meaning that in this scenario, Kansas would need to win by 5 points or more for you to win the bet.Both.
I should have worded it better

To be successful at that level (as either a coach or player) you have to be what I think most "normal" people would agree is a poorly-adjusted person. They aren't like normal people - they prioritize winning and their careers way above their families or anything else in their life.Gotcha. I’m new to this thread, albeit not the forum in general.

Of course, ask Duke how much being the favorite means. They were favored by 4 over Carolina. UCLA was favored by 2.5 points over Carolina. Baylor was favored by 8 points over Carolina. So the -4 basically means that Kansas is considered the favorite and starts the game with a 4 point lead.
