Your point being you're not able to see K as anything other than a humble man and shaper of souls, unmotivated by such gross human traits as ego and pride????
Yes, I believe I did.
You credit one program for cheating and getting away with it but discredit the other…don’t worry though UNC is setting up a pretty good NIL program and they will continue this ride of dominance over Duke for years to comeIf you don’t have an ego no matter the size as a coach you shouldn’t be in coaching.
K is different in my opinion because he has that rare ability not to lose his mind in front of the media. RDU and I have talked at length about K having expectations and wanting to win at high levels. K knows Duke should never lose to the likes of Syracuse especially a bad Syracuse team. Winning is everything to him and he made the team and coaches fix the issues before they went home.
Other than that and let me preface this by saying there’s no proof out there but everyone knows getting Zion to Duke wasn’t simply a meeting between he and K. There’s more to it it just never got outside Cameron which is a credit to the ship he ran.
Carolina on the other hand…. Where do I start? White or Blue Cadillacs? Fake classes? Meeting Celebrities or Alums? Sure they can set that up to get you on the dotted line.

Good post, albeit a bit one sided. IIRC, during the 'COVID draft' the shots of Zion's parents' kitchen were incredible. Basically, a kitchen the size of some homes. As you said, no proof has surfaced, but if anyone believes all the shenanigans took place on only one end of 15-501, they are delusional.
K is usually polished, though he would allow that ego to shine through at times. An example - very recent - the 'unacceptable' mini-rant came off as a bit out of control - although I am confident a Dookie would see it as a short statement of disappointment and determination. Reasonable minds can differ.
Standing by for ole 8282 to tell me, of course, how FOS I am. It seems to make the lad happy.
If your referring to the Carolina stuff there are plenty of things out there that suggest improper benefits where given.
Duke are what they are and I will never like them and RDU knows how I feel and we respect each other for it at least in my opinion.
I think we have a pretty good understanding of one another and a healthy respect for each other’s opinion on the rivalry and the knowledge that we carry with our conversations. It’s fun to trade zingers every now and then because that’s part of the rivalry. I’m sure that will never change. I definitely don’t get as fired up as I once did towards others that randomly show up in this thread and post the typical “Duke gets all the calls” stuff. However, I occasionally have my moments.
I think you’re misremembering the Zion draft. That was 2019 and Zion and family were in attendance, but that’s neither here nor there.Good post, albeit a bit one sided. You’re right. I merged the stories about Zion’s amazing family house upgrade with the images of families during the 2020 drafts awaiting news. While Zion’s family experienced a significant upgrade in housing after he signed with Dook, the two are separate. Nice catch.
Point stands that successful P5 schools, and especially basketball and football blue bloods, got away with amazingly amounts of improper benefits before NIL, and will continue to push and break the rules post NIL. Dook I saw no different than UNC, UK, KU, or any other Blue Blood BB program.
Some programs are better at it than others and they have the right people in their pockets..

Yup. And the BB Bluebloods do it better than most.
And even as a UNC fan I will admit the following: It has been my experience that in a close game, where officiating matters, if the game involves a blueblood and a non-blueblood, and a close call has to be made, the blueblood is going to get that call the vast majority of the time. So when people claim that Dook, UNC, UK, KU, etc 'always get the calls', they are not 100% wrong.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled bickering.....
Oh man, you’re asking him for examples. Good luck.Sorry, I’m going to disagree with you there. I don’t think UNC is quite the same as UK or KU either. Or Arizona or LSU or Memphis. I’m sure I’m going to get major pushback on that, but I don’t see it that way. I’m not suggesting Duke is perfect by any means, I’m not that naive. At the same time, I’ve never seen a Sports Illustrated Cover discussing the shame of the University or FBI wiretaps involving head coaches, or banners being taken down or tone deaf Midnight madness practices with Snoop shooting money out of a cannon.
I’m sure that will stir the hornets nest, but people need to come at me with more than some outdated story of Myron Piggie or Zion’s mom signed with some unlicensed agent while they lived in Spartanburg or something.

I think there are differences between programs that cheat. I don’t think the blue blood programs need to go to the levels of an LSU or others that are upper middle class programs.I would suspect that the major programs compete (and cheat) on about the same level. Some get caught. Was SMU dirtier than the other SWC teams in the 80s, or did they just get caught? Will Wade takes stupid to a whole new level in general, but I wonder just how unusual expressing a 'strong @$$ offer' about a recruit really is? I doubt Roy or K would use quite those words, but I don't think Wade and LSU are on the outer edge of dirtiness either.
Look at Zion's parents' home before and during his time at Dook. Pretty obvious what is going on, but much better handled than the manilla envelope full of cash that came open and put UK down for a period in the 80s.
Slingblade McGump learned his trade from somewhere....I'd suspect he learned from Bama and the Hoover mafia. He was a next level of dumb and so UT was caught, but does that mean Bama isn't doing as much or more??
Point being - the programs that are caught expose spectacular and headline worthy issues. The programs which are not caught breathe a sigh of relief and apply the lessons learned from the other program's ordeal.
Is Dook 'dirtier' than UNC, UK, LSU, KU?? No, and I don't think it goes the other way either. LSU and UNC just got caught.
Reasonable minds and all that. I do enjoy the banter in here, with a few notable gnat-level-annoying exceptions.
I think that will probably be the case in a lot of preseason publications and probably the actual rankings as well . I certainly understand why UNC fans would be excited about nearly the entire team coming back, however that missing piece that isn’t coming back was a huge piece of the success the last quarter of the season. If UNC wants to replicate the success of this past season they’re going to have to add a very capable stretch 4.Nationally they could potentially be a Top 3 team with Bacot in the fold too.
We’ll see.
