In regards to the game, Hubert Davis thinking that putting Bacot on Banchero to start the game is the most baffling, head scratching move i can think of. What was he possibly thinking about?

I honestly thought Duke would lose. I’ve seen enough of these to know that in most cases that the records don’t matter. Then the first 5 minutes happened and the moment seemed too big for that UNC team. I’ve never seen a UNC team play that undisciplined, out there gunning and jacking up 3’s . Duke out rebounded UNC 40-24. Sean May used to have 24 boards by himself. It’s too early to tell, but there could be cause for concern with Hubert going forward. Some of his in game decisions were awful, and as I said putting Bacot on Banchero was crazy. There was no way you put your best player who is a big on a versatile guy with size like Banchero.

I’m sure some of the diehards are calling for his head already but id like to see how he responds to the game. I was extremely doubtful when they made the hire and that hasn’t changed. The only thing I’m hoping for is for Davis not to be Matt Dority 2.0

Hubert doesn’t have a Roy Williams laying in wait to take his job. The Carolina coaching tree isn’t very broad these days.

College basketball coaching successions are so much different from college football. Both UNC and Duke's legendary coaches were/are going to be succeeded by ex-players/assistants with no previous head coaching experience. Can you imagine Saban being succeeded by one of his assistants who had no HC experience?

I look at Doh as UNC’s Ron Zook. He was full of bravado and bull$hit, but he brought in National Title talent for the next coach, both of whom are HOF’s.

Maybe not but he shouldn’t test that water by jumping in the deep end…

As i said before to @RDU VOL#14 if things start rocky nxt season they’ll have some fans ready to send John packing too.

Not having Dawson Garcia last night was a big factor. Would it changed the outcome? Probably not, but he and Leaky would have been better defensive matchups for Banchero and Griffin than Leaky and whoever else.

We also lack a true PG. Love is too out of control and careless with the ball to be a primary ball handler and Davis is an undersized SG.

I agree and I hate it tbh. Programs like Duke/UNC can hire anyone but love shrinking the pool of candidates from thousands to like 7 former players/coaches instead. I know sometimes it’s legendary coaches choosing their successors or whatever but generally speaking it’s a bad idea

My beloved Tarheels had better read up on Tennessee football history to see how quickly a proud program can hit the skids with boneheaded coaching hire decisions. Hubert ain't the guy. The question is how long does Carolina hang into this decision before they pull chocks and hire a top tier coach. Wait too long, or make a few bargain hires, and UNC will be the UT of Basketball.

That's never a bad move. Not trying to start anything, but his little year-long prima-***ing-donna tour reminds me of a prolonged version of Keith Jackson making our NC game all about himself.

I don’t see UNC getting rid of Hubert until at least year 3, unless there is something that just becomes unacceptable, like losing the locker room. People have been questioning this teams effort at times during this season and the big losses to teams like Wake and Miami can’t continue . I think there are too many factors at play that would keep him safe unless they absolutely had to fire him.

As far as the other night goes, it was only a small section of the student section, but to me it’s not a good look. The Rivalry is better than that. Leave that stuff for the trash ass Maryland fans and their F##k Duke T-shirts they made. I’ve been in the crowd for a UT/ Bama game and the students started that chant and i thought the same thing then as I did the other night. I know you don’t like K, a lot of people don’t. I have mixed feelings about he handled his retirement, but the thing that I respect the most is allowing the players to know who the coach is gonna be and letting Scheyer recruit. I sure as hell hope he doesn’t show up at every single game like Roy has. WTH is that all about? No pressure Hubert.
