Duke/UNC Official Thread 2021/2022 (K’s Last Hurrah Edition)

It was a bad foul. But he didn’t pull a Glock out on the floor or anything. He doesn’t have a history, and he essentially will miss two games. As far as reporting goes, ESPN and cbs sports both sent me alerts. It was the lede in my daily email from The Athletic. It was even on my snap chat Discover videos. It was in the front page of ESPN for an entire day. He apologized immediately after the fact. He apologized on social media.

I don’t see what else should’ve happened here

Noted. All I said was that I surprised it wasn’t more. A lot of people hold the same opinion . Then predictably , somebody brought up Grayson Allen. I responded to both. Really wasn’t trying to make it more than it was .

How could you not bring up Grayson Allen? If you want to discuss what punishments should come from dirty plays, he’s the standard, the poster boy. And a multiple time offender. Carried over into the NBA. He fractured Caruso’s wrist and only got one game.

Good point . I say beginning at the NCAA Tournament we change calls of hard fouls from a flagrant 1 or 2 to now a Grayson 1 or 2. He’ll be the logo like Jerry West, but with his leg out.

Interesting article from The NY post . Not sure I’m buying a lot of this. IMO, this is going to be the first of many sensationalized stories that will come out in the next Month/ Month and a half

I don’t like that Duke had focused in on Amaker of all people, or that Vincent Price apparently has this much influence over a coaching hire.

When Kentucky had a vacancy, they hired a guy who had just gone 38-2 and had taken UMass and Memphis to the Final Four. Texas got a guy that took Texas Tech to the title game after taking Arkansas-Little Rock on a run of their own. Arizona replaced their legendary coach with Sean Miller, who had built Xavier into a top-15 program and taken them to the E8. Meanwhile, Duke and UNC are over here deciding between Amaker, Scheyer and Hubert Davis. What are we doing here

Tommy Amaker is a great guy. One of the best in college basketball, but he’s been recruiting the Ivy League for 15 years and you want him to take over the biggest brand in college basketball? Nope.

It scare me because it makes me think that not everyone is on the same page. That the admin and academia are looking at K’s retirement as opportunity to grab some power back. I think that all of us Vol fans know way too well that when everyone is not on the same page things will not go well.

Amaker was average at Seton Hall and Michigan and then has been good at Harvard. I don’t know that Scheyer is the guy but I feel almost certain that Amaker isn’t the guy. Neither are Collins, Wojo, Dawkins, nor Capel. Best coach from the K tree is Bray, and he’s not the right answer either.

The first coach after a legend has an almost impossible task. If the answer isn’t Scheyer, that’s when we’ll learn how concerned Duke is with having winning basketball. If they go back to the K tree, they’re screwed

Correction: obviously the BEST branch from the K tree is Mr Goodhair. But he wouldn’t be invited down in a million years. And I doubt he’d accept an invite anyway

Already seeing people claiming this dehydration/medical issue with K is him finding a way to bury the Amaker story. Just unbelievable

I think they got that goaltend call wrong. I thought Moore’s hand hit it, putting it over the cylinder, before Williams touched it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I thought that too initially. Replay clearly showed it was Williams’ hand that tipped it, not Moore

I wonder who at Duke supposedly offered the job to Amaker. Regardless, if Amaker was offered it looks like they have a serious organization problem.

It could’ve been the current President. I doubt the new AD would try to go behind K’s back like that. I can see the some in the academics trying to wield their power some . Hopefully not though.

I saw yesterday that Michigan has played their way back up the rankings enough to give Carolina another “quality” win.
Don’t want to get into the likely mess that is the Howard thread, so I figure this will reach those I want it to here
