Dy'shawn Mobley

He had 28 carries for 234 yards and 3 TDs. Pretty decent night, wouldn't you say. I think most Running backs would take it, especially against one of the strongest defenses in the state. Oh and according to the radio, Dooley and Cheney were in attendance tonight.

For the record, so far in the play-offs he's got 994 yards on 94 carries and 15 TDs.

The numbers on him are a little skewed. They kept him in against West second string defense up 21-6 with under the 2:00 to play. He ripped off a 70 yard TD. He's a good back though.

Glad he is having great success in the playoffs... but he only has offers from Toledo and Kentucky, and no ranking per Rivals.

There are probably eight running backs in Memphis just as good and half of them are juniors (or a few sophomores).

I love our local Tennessee talent, but breaking any type of rushing record in state is not usually headline news.

The Vols don't need darn good running backs. They need DAMN good running backs. Beastly, like the ones who play for LSU and Bama. :whistling:

i think Tennessee should offer Powell Highschool running back Dy'Shawn Mobley hes a good running back and there gonna be sick when hes doin good for kentucky

Sounds like West shut him down, tonight. I don't have the stats, though.

He scored a late TD of around 50 yards, but had a solid night. I didn't see any second stringers in on the last TD as tripper suggested. He didn't get as many carries in the first half as I would have thought. But the only thing that matters is that Powell is going to STATE :)

He needs 150 yds to become the state all time leading rusher. He's got +2,800 so far. I'd like to see him get it. He'll do good at KY.

another player that will only contribute on special teams? Sounds good.

Your comments are ignorant. Unfortunately I do not believe you have seen Dyshawn Mobley play and if you have then you are a poor assessment of talent or you have been listening to way too much Jimmy Hyams (never a good idea) lol.

To do what this kid has done this year is impressive. Lets take a look at what he did. He broke records with very few carries, and he has only played 5 full games this year. He received All-Camp honors at almost every camp he attended this past summer that includes UK and Miss. St. He received 1rst team honorable mention at the Junior U.S. Army Combine as a RB (which holds the top 500 juniors from around the country). Just so you know the first team offense only had two RB's, so Mobley receiving honorable mention is impressive. He has been a big part of Powell reaching the state championship, and has consistenly had his way with every defense that has tried to slow him down to date.

I don't believe he would play special teams at UT. I don't know how much I can say about this or what I should say, but don't be surprised to see Dyshawn Mobley as the starting RB at UK his freshman season. You all will more than likely get to watch him play against TN sooner than later in his career at UK.

Doubt it. Otherwise his offer list would be a lot different.

Once again a very ill-advised comment. The offer list you receive has many more factors to deal with. It is not all about how much talent one possesses.

Maybe UT needs someone like this. Some1 who is proving ppl wrong and is going to run hard. Would be very disappointed if we didn't get this kid. Best football player to cone through since Cobb. Don't even know mobley or went to Powell. And am the same guy saying we waste a scholarship on young.

Mobley is an incredible athlete and runs with an attitude. He definitely plays the game at a very high level and I would love to see him in orange and white. He is big and strong, but the knock on him is the perceived lack of speed. I don't know if that is why UT is overlooking him or not, but he is definitely fast. As I said in a previous post, Cody Blanc (4.4/40) could not run him down in the secondary.

I think teams get too caught up in the 40 time. There have been plenty of great backs that did not run sub 4.6 / 40 and a lot in the NFL. Emitt Smith's combine time was a 4.7 and he is the NFL's all time rusher.

Here is a good article on 40 times...

you dont run for almost 3000 Yards and 44 TDs and not at least deserve a shot.I was not sold on Mobley until the State tourney started, and heck, I graduated from Powell in '06, but this guy has been UNREAL! UT owes it to us fans to give this guy a shot. Lets be honest here, he couldn't HURT our running game. At worst he's a LB for us

The 3 RBs coming in posted huge numbers and did it against better competition in GA and OH. Hill's may be a bit questionable, but obviously the staff liked him alot more.

I can agree with that, but at the same time Mobley can only play the teams on his schedule (I know it's an overused expression, but it's true). He's also playing for the state championship this Friday night, so those numbers are going to go up.

What a joke Dooley finds another diamond in the rough recruit at his old high school in Georgia. I understand him not taking the Knoxville kid now since he has obviously went far and wide to bring in the best running backs in the country. He certainly had to work hard to secure this kids commitment over well nobody. I hope Mobley scores a couple touchdowns in Dooley's last game next year.
