Why didnt they then? Oh and Oak Ridges qb was injured in that game also. So whats your point?

They didn't because that Oak Ridge football team was the most prepared football team I have seen take the field in highschool in a long time. They studied so much against that spread offense of Powell that they knew where every single running play was going. They put 8 people in the box and sometimes 9 people in the box, so with that many people in the box the spread took too long to develop.
Props to the Oak Ridge coaching staff for getting them that prepared against that spread offense because I was blown away by how well coached they were. Oak Ridge has a good football team, but what made that game so close was how well coached and prepared they were for Powell's offense. Oak Ridge was down 34-3 at home against Powell last year after the first half, and I believe no one scored in the second I could be wrong though, but anyways I believe Oak Ridge wanted revenge they weren't going to let that happen again.
If you notice Powell did not run the spread at all in the second half and changed their whole entire offensive set, which allowed Powell to start scoring the ball because Oak Ridge players did not know where the ball was going. McPhetridge had his worst game of the year and threw two picks in the first half and one in the first drive of the second half, which one was taken back for a td, the other was taken back inside the 10 yard line, and the last inside powell territory.
Given it was a blow to lose Oak Ridge's starting QB because he is a very good player we can't be pointing at injuries because Powell people could say that they had their pre-season all state defensive lineman out along with their starting defensive end and linebacker. Besides it was Oak Ridge's defense putting up the points for them in the first half of that ball game because they were getting the offense in position to score. Powell put up 21 points in two and half quarters once changing their offensive set and Powell was in position to score again towards the end.
Many people didnt notice, but Powell also changed their defense after the first quarter because too much was being given up in the middle of the field. Oak Ridge was very well prepared offensively as well and knew where the holes were in the defense Powell ran and exploited them early.
Oak Ridge is a good ball club definately not taking anything away from him that Rian Hall has potential to be really good and I expect them to finish this year out pretty well in the playoffs. Once again I was very impressed as to how well offensivley and defensively that coaching staff prepared them for Powell. Very well played game for the Wildcats.
