Dy'shawn Mobley

Oak Ridge is the only team that has played Powell well all year. Mobely still had a good game, but Powell had to play a good game to win that one.

Actually, that's not true. Austin East played Powell tough and Powell didn't go ahead until the 4th quarter. They wore A-E out and Mobely was able to run the ball. He had 14 carries for 101 yards and a TD. The Final was 28-7. And before you say A-E isn't that good this year, they went out and knocked off Alcoa a couple of weeks later. Against Oak ridge he had 20 carries for 256 yards and 3 TDs.

Why didnt they then? Oh and Oak Ridges qb was injured in that game also. So whats your point?

They didn't because that Oak Ridge football team was the most prepared football team I have seen take the field in highschool in a long time. They studied so much against that spread offense of Powell that they knew where every single running play was going. They put 8 people in the box and sometimes 9 people in the box, so with that many people in the box the spread took too long to develop.

Props to the Oak Ridge coaching staff for getting them that prepared against that spread offense because I was blown away by how well coached they were. Oak Ridge has a good football team, but what made that game so close was how well coached and prepared they were for Powell's offense. Oak Ridge was down 34-3 at home against Powell last year after the first half, and I believe no one scored in the second I could be wrong though, but anyways I believe Oak Ridge wanted revenge they weren't going to let that happen again.

If you notice Powell did not run the spread at all in the second half and changed their whole entire offensive set, which allowed Powell to start scoring the ball because Oak Ridge players did not know where the ball was going. McPhetridge had his worst game of the year and threw two picks in the first half and one in the first drive of the second half, which one was taken back for a td, the other was taken back inside the 10 yard line, and the last inside powell territory.

Given it was a blow to lose Oak Ridge's starting QB because he is a very good player we can't be pointing at injuries because Powell people could say that they had their pre-season all state defensive lineman out along with their starting defensive end and linebacker. Besides it was Oak Ridge's defense putting up the points for them in the first half of that ball game because they were getting the offense in position to score. Powell put up 21 points in two and half quarters once changing their offensive set and Powell was in position to score again towards the end.

Many people didnt notice, but Powell also changed their defense after the first quarter because too much was being given up in the middle of the field. Oak Ridge was very well prepared offensively as well and knew where the holes were in the defense Powell ran and exploited them early.

Oak Ridge is a good ball club definately not taking anything away from him that Rian Hall has potential to be really good and I expect them to finish this year out pretty well in the playoffs. Once again I was very impressed as to how well offensivley and defensively that coaching staff prepared them for Powell. Very well played game for the Wildcats.

Dooley grabbed Devrin Young last year when Young only had one offer. Maybe they are waiting to see him play a full game against better competition in the playoffs if they make it very far. In my uninformed opinion, he looks as good as anyone left on the board

They should make it far this year in the playoffs, saying that they had a blow to the secondary losing arguably their best defensive back in Powell High School history 6 games into the season, who is a junior cb was one pick away from the having the season interception record and one pick away from having the career interception record and he was also one of the top tacklers. He went out for the season with an ACL tear. Then last week Powell lost their senior safety who was also a very good DB. As long as Powell can find someone to step up and fill in for them against these better teams they will meet in playoffs, then Powell will keep winning. It would be nice to have Maryville, Powell, and Alcoa bring home state championships to East TN, but I just doubt that will happen. I don't think this Alcoa team is the same of the past teams, although I can see Powell and Maryville both running the table.

I didn't consider AE because the game was never really in doubt. However, Oak Ridge played a great game and may have won if the starting QB didn't get hurt.

Oh wow. Really? Good to see. Another kid to watch for at Powell is Sophomore RB Tyshawn Gardin. The kid makes violent cuts, and if he grows a bit from 5'7 150 he'll be a D1 talent.

We are thrilled that UK offered him a scholarship! He also visited Vandy, maybe he will get multiple offers.

Mobley had 303 yards to on 29 carries with 4 TDs against Ooltewah. Great night for Powell. They won 42-21. They play Lenoir City next week.

The coaches looked at him and watched a game of his and werent interested. They have been spot on usually so Ill take their judgement.

Mobley ran in high gear last night. Not sure he does that every game. He was not happy with Mr. Football and wanted to prove a point.
