He robbed his own teams locker room last year and was suspended in the playoffs for it. That and lack of speed is why ut won't offer
He robbed his own teams lockerroom? Please tell where you got this information? He was suspended for one game not the entire playoffs. Powell just happened to lose their first round game.
I remember a player from Ooltewah that was suspended for the playoffs for assaulting a teammate but we still took him.
Best I recall the player from Ooltewah you referred to was #1 HS player in the state that year.
Mobley is not #1 player in Tennessee...coaches take chances sometimes, but not on someone who is questionable both on field & off

Look there's no argument the kid made a mistake but if you think everyone we sign is squeaky clean their whole life your wrong. Imo the incident has absolutely no bearing on UT's recruitment or lack thereof. We took Marlin Lane last year didn't we? I also remember a player from Ooltewah that was suspended for the playoffs for assaulting a teammate but we still took him.
While I appreciate your point, those aren't very good examples. Marlin Lane was in a car with somebody who was carrying weed, immediately offered to take a drug test to prove he didn't do anything wrong, and said he was using it as a life lesson to be more careful about the company he keeps.
I'm a little fuzzier on this one, but I'm pretty sure Jacques Smith just got in a fight with a teammate in practice. I don't know about you, but I dont see that as an indicator of a kid's character at all.
Actually, according to either Cobb himself or his father, UT only offered him to play at QB, and Kentucky offered him to play either QB or WR.
I just looked at that clip. Not sure when it was in the game. It might have been late and he did rush 29 times. However it did seem to me that he slowed down near the goal line and when he became aware the DB was catching him, he shifted gears and was pulling away again when he crossed the goal line. Some one else might see it different though. That happened about 1:45 in the clip.

I noticed that Mobley is not very muscular in the lower body. I am thinking that the staff has to wonder if he could keep his existing speed, which is not exceptional, if they were to try to change his physical make-up in the weight room?
Yes, I saw that exact same thing. For running backs, they need to be big and powerful. Or have that ability to pull away in the open field. He did not show that he had that type speed. Pull up the Mathers kid from Murfreesboro Junior year video. Watch the last run in that group. He gets out in the clear and hits the jets. Over about 60 yards, he out runs them by ten yards or so. Very impressive!
Mobley did make a mistake last year - but he has been a model citizen this year - zero issues. He has great work ethic and is very dedicated. My son is a freshman, and I really appreciate how he treats the freshman like any other kid on the team. While some players routinely put FR down, Mobley does not. As a matter of a fact, he jokes around quite frequently with my son.
I completely changed my opinion of him this year. Last year, I heard about the issues and formed an opinion without knowing him. But from what I have observed this year (I attended every practice the first 2 weeks), I was completely wrong about him. He is a great kid who made a stupid mistake. If we passed on every player that made 1 mistake, we couldn't field a team.
Hopefully, UT will come to their senses and offer him a scholarship.
