Heard the cincy guy on radio this morning and I understood him to base this statement on the fact that jones brought his entire staff with him to cincy. What he just skipped over was that Kelly took most of staff with him to ND except for staff former OC Jeff Quinn took to Buffalo when he left.

Passion is contagious. He is as close to a Bruce Pearl hire (for the football team) as we could have made. As for him bringing in his whole staff, I just dont believe that will be the case. In fact I believe we left a little money on the table to provide CBJ with a quality staff.
Come back home Tee Martin. And Randy Shannon how does $800k a year sound?

sound about right with this horrible hire, tennessee football died on pearl harbor day, imagine that. guess i saw the last tennessee team to win a SEC championship in my lifetime.

There are kids in high school who weren't even alive the last time UT won an SEC championship. But please, tell me more about how this is the worst thing imaginable.

Yes, and once he gets everything implemented, we will.

Thank you, finally some positive options....I know we are all tired of losing and then this long drawn out coaching search but come on guys this is who was hired so lets give him a chance....it couldn't be any worse than the pass 3 years....

No, he was in his undies in a la-z-boy eating the last ho hos left in America.

He put down the ho hos so he could impart this knowledge to Volnaton on a very important talk radio show.

Dude is legit. He is also still posting in the Gruden threads.

How did you know I had the last ho hos?

People like you drive me nuts. Sure he wasn't on top of my list but I sure like him over Gundy or Strong. He has passion and WANTS to be here. I like the hire and think we'll be in the hunt by his 2nd year. (Next years schedule is just brutal for any new coaching staff.)

We've won 5 games the past two seasons. What's the worst that could happen?

What we need is a d backfield , we are only 4 or 5 players away as it is , look at The Ducks to see how well a spread o works against the SEC . He has no idea what the SEC is about . Here is a good bet . Will he last 2 years or will he last 3 years ??
If he is smart he will keep what we have in place and add to the team what we need.

I cannot stand the negativity. Guys you are obviously Vols fans. Don't be fair weather fans. Grow up and accept the man as your new leader. Accept it or go on and become a bandwagon bama fan for all I care. I don't want you here.

Have you guys been drinking the "Jones" Kool Aid? Record last 2 years 19-6. Wins against Pittsburg(2), Louisville(1),Va. Tech(1), NC State(1), Miami,Ohio(2),USF(2), UConn(2),Deleware State, Fordham, Temple, Austin Peay, Akron, Syracuse and Vandy. Losses to Toledo, Louisville, Rutgers, TENNESSEE, West Va. and Rutgers. Tell me how this relates to him being able to coach against the SEC tallent and produce wins against Fla, Ga, SC, Bama, LSU, Miss St, Texas A&M?

Playing with SEC talent perhaps?
Urban Meyer and Steve Spurrier werent in heavyweight leagues before Florida. We just dont know. I'm gonna support the guy and see if he gets it done, hoping he does, believing he can.

I'm not sure if it'll be his entire staff but would bet big money that he brings at least 5 guys with him.

Every coach at a big school never had their current job just fall in their lap. They got their start somewhere.Saban got his in the mac and so did meyer.Does this mean Jones will be as good as those two no.But give the man a chance. He is a huge upgrade from what we have had.GO VOLS........

When has Cinci been known for their defense! Never!

I'd rather be unknown for defense than known in the methods we were last season. People want to talk infamy, what we did on the field last year defensively was blatantly the most offensive thing about our team and program.

If we could play a defense that keeps us "unknown" and produce a good offensive team despite the turnover, we could actually go bowling next year.

He said in the press conference that some guys would probably come with him from Cincinatti, but he also understands the importance of having previous grads on staff. When asked if he would talk to Tee Martin he said he would reach out to him but also to other coaches.

Yes I have I know our record well. This search has been called maybe the most importand Coaching search in the history of Tennessee football. I will support Jones 100% and be at all the games. Honestly though, do you feel that the wins Jones has over the past w2 years and the losses(One of which was Dooley) equate into him being able to bring us back to the top of the food chain in the SEC?

LSU fans asked that about Saban when he was hired, with a worse record.

All a guy can do is win where he is at. Jones has done that.

I didnt get all the love for Brian Kelly when he left Cincy and I dont get all the hate for Jones now. Not a huge difference between the two.

IF Butch Jones=Brian Kelly then we nailed this hire. Whether this is the case or not remains to be seen.

i like him better than strong and gundy as well, but the guy will never win over 8 games as a head coach at tennessee, probably not that many. hart is a football tool who completely screwed us for years to come. he should have went for a coordinator in the NFL that would have atleast had a shot of doing something, but they were not even on his idiot list. why would i think that his staff will be anybetter, hell he will probably keep sunseri who hart loves. hart is garbage and should have never been allowed to make such an important choice. it was like committing football suicide.lol
