Butch walks into D. Green's living room and Saban, Miles, Richt, Spurrier and Muschamp are fighting for space on the couch who do you think he is going to talk to first? Yep another lottery winner.

Jones said a handful of coaches would come with him from Cincinnati to Tennessee, but that he would otherwise “leave no stone unturned” in his search for the “best staff in the country.”

What was the staff payroll number being thrown around for Gruden--wasn't it about $5 million? Some SEC coordinators now make $1 million a year or close to it. Insanity.

People like you drive me nuts. Sure he wasn't on top of my list but I sure like him over Gundy or Strong. He has passion and WANTS to be here.

So you think he's the best coach of the three because he accepted the job and they didn't?

Playing with SEC talent perhaps?
Urban Meyer and Steve Spurrier werent in heavyweight leagues before Florida. We just dont know. I'm gonna support the guy and see if he gets it done, hoping he does, believing he can.

LSU fans asked that about Saban when he was hired, with a worse record.

All a guy can do is win where he is at. Jones has done that.

All these Saban/Meyer/Spurrier/Miles comparisons are completely retarded. Each of them had shown that they could vastly improve a program. Tennessee will be Jones' first experience with program-building without having Kelly set the table for him. He's basically learning on the job at Tennessee. People don't see anything wrong with that?

Everybody take a deep breath and step away from the ledge. Reports are he already contacted Tee. He will have the ability to hire a good staff with good ties. His defense was top 20 this season. He has won more conference titles and has a higher winning percentage than Strong, who he beat twice, and Fedora. Not saying we are winning the crystal ball next year but geeze calm down and give the man a chance.

I keep hearing the name Tee mentioned. Was he not in trouble with the law when he was at UT?.

I'll support him unless he gets rid of Graham. Graham would be my biggest gripe, and I'd be a little upset with Pittman, but Graham NEEDS to be here, he can tell recruits and players what it means to be a Tennessee Vol, and KNOWS from the glory days.

The memorandum says MINIMUM of 3 million. When LK was here we were tops in the conference at around 3.8 million. I'm sure we will reach that mark again.

Here's a serious question for you. The BOT has approved the hire and it's done. What can you do about it? What can any of us do about it? I'm listening

I think Graham and Pittman translate well to his offensive style, seem to be VERY well liked and respected by current players and recruits and do an excellent job in recruiting in areas we NEED to be strong in. Like Hinshaw for recruiting purposes but could take or leave him from a coaching standpoint. I doubt that Chaney will be retained since CBJ has a bit of a different approach than Chaney.

I love the idea of Tee Martin coming on board. Honest question though. Hasn't Tee only been coaching for 3 years? Each year in a different place and one as QB coach. Wouldn't dislike the hire with the tradition and his apparent ability to connect with recruits but would also understand if he goes a different direction given Tee's limited resume as a coach.

I would guess he releases the entire defensive staff. Don't know enough about his Cincy D staff but would really like to see him go out and hire an established DC with major college success on his resume.

Have you guys been drinking the "Jones" Kool Aid? Record last 2 years 19-6. Wins against Pittsburg(2), Louisville(1),Va. Tech(1), NC State(1), Miami,Ohio(2),USF(2), UConn(2),Deleware State, Fordham, Temple, Austin Peay, Akron, Syracuse and Vandy. Losses to Toledo, Louisville, Rutgers, TENNESSEE, West Va. and Rutgers. Tell me how this relates to him being able to coach against the SEC tallent and produce wins against Fla, Ga, SC, Bama, LSU, Miss St, Texas A&M?

Do you think he might be able to draw a higher level of talent to Tennessee than at Cincy?

Yes, but $1.5 mil of the $3.8 mil was for Monte, leaving $2.3 for the other 8 assistants.

And how do you know that??? Just another blast from a non fan, but one who wants the headlines. What a waste.

Yes I have I know our record well. This search has been called maybe the most importand Coaching search in the history of Tennessee football. I will support Jones 100% and be at all the games. Honestly though, do you feel that the wins Jones has over the past w2 years and the losses(One of which was Dooley) equate into him being able to bring us back to the top of the food chain in the SEC?

Winners win no matter where they are. They find a way to lead those around them no matter the circumstance or situation. Coach Jones accepted the challenge and I am sure he is aware of what he faces on the field.
People who wanted somebody different, need to understand we could not have hired someone who said no - Gundy, Strong, etc.. Coach Jones said yes and I will trust him to put the team together that will march us back to greatness.
