Early signs of bad coaching in first 5 games.

The guy makes 3 million a year so he can take some heat...why people always lust over the new coach befuzzles me....There are some hairline cracks in this imaginary wall he is building. He has never built a team from the ground up....he refuses to play either of the 2 elite 11 qbs........what does that tell our recruits.........well if I go to UT he may redshirt me.....play the frosh Butch! And the way he acted when that sideline reporter asked about the frosh..........NO we are not playing them..........

Yes let's go ahead and fire Butch and start all over once again . That really shows stability. We have a low talent, slow and inexperienced team playing the second toughest schedule in the nation. Come on people, this is not an overnight fix. But maybe the OP can step right in an the team will do a 180 and win the rest of the games plus give all the players instant experience. GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK.

Starting Peterman and the second half of USA are about the only times when i thought the coaches could have done a few things different. It is what it is right now. We're a bottom third SEC team and most of the reason is talent. No way to fix that other than recruiting. Then the Team doesn't have to play a perfect game and the coaches don't have to call a perfect game. That's where were at.. It sucks, but the only solution is time and getting the talent in here to compete.

It's all part of the rebuilding process. Some are packing the gear to deal with it, some aren't.

If you thought we had a good team before the season started then your a complete idiot. Last year we stunk and we lost all of our offense to the NFL and a lot of people like the guy who started this thread thinks we are suppose to go 10 and 2. Come on guys, our upper classmen aren't very good and Dooley's recruiting was sub par so get ready we may finish 6 and 6 at best but next year may be worse. If you can't do anything but be negative then go freaking root for someone else! I know volnation is tired of losing, but I think the future looks good. I for one support our team so if you can't be positive for them then move on to another team because UT doesn't need or want ****ty fans !!
Just sounds strange, last year we stunk, and we lost all of our offense to the NFL. Does not compute on its face

I will concede that game 1 versus Austin Peay was a well played no penalty football game. Everyone saw that Worley was going to struggle. Nobody got meaningful snaps at back up qb.

game 2 Worley continues to show signs of not performing at sec levels and still nobody gets meaninful snaps at qb.

game 3 you absolutely got hammered by a much better opponent and worley continued to show he could not make it happen....Peterman gets mop up duty vs Oregons 3rd string.

game 4 in the swamp you finally decide it is time to change qb......but you havent given the back up any meaningful playing time.......it backfires and you not only get burned you hold your hand to the fire the entire first half when a Florida team was begging for you to beat them.

game 5 the team starts off great and has a 31-7 lead in the first half...your qb throws 3 picks and gives the little South Alabama team life....then you try a fake field goal which looks like it would have worked but your team didnt execute. You have to punt the football in that situation. Palardy has been good to this point and by that decision you prolly destroy his confidence and give the other team great field position.

Summary we are 3-2 and all of us thought we would be 3-2.........but guys I dont see a football team that is improving from week to week.........we seem to be getting worse and the next few games are going to be brutal.

You must have a lot of experience evaluating head coaches in these types of situations.

Where were you AD? Where did you coach?

LOL

IMO the single absolutely inexplicable move was keeping Peterman in after he began to decompensate (around the first play or so).

Close runner up is starting Peterman in the first place.

All the rest can be debated based on personnel, circumstances, etc.

I'll admit it, I had to look that up and that may just be a very accurate description of what happened.

de·com·pen·sa·tion (dkm-pn-sshn)
n.
1. Medicine Failure of the heart to maintain adequate blood circulation, marked by labored breathing, engorged blood vessels, and edema.
2. Psychology The inability to maintain defense mechanisms in response to stress, resulting in personality disturbance or psychological imbalance.

bUTch needed to start Peterman. The fans were grumbling for him to start, so bUTch gave the fans what they wanted.

It seems that bUTch knew more about the q.b. play of Peterman and Worley than us fans......

Butch didn't start Peterman because the fans wanted it. He started him because he had the best week in practice.

Good coaches absolutely NEVER do anything just to appease the fans

Just one question for you. How many years have you coached football? Oh, and any level.

I don't see us getting worse. I do have some concerns with coaching (especially some schemes on offense). But, we now enter real tests starting with Georgia at home. Can Butch get these players to over achieve against the more talented teams? Or, do we get pummeled and hope for mop up wins at the end of the schedule per our usual. As Kiffin showed, you have to recruit and coach. Before I come down to hard on this staff, I'll wait to see what they do with their own recruits and more talent.

All of this depends on what you want. Do you want to win? Or, do you want to see the freshmen play? If you want to win the S Alabama game, then Butch goes with Worley. The coaching staff see these freshmen everyday on the practice field, meeting rooms, film studies and on the sidelines.

Then you have to ask the question, who knows if the status of the QBs better, us fans, the media or the coaching staff? Who gives us the better chance to win the SA game? I have to go with the judgment of the coaches.

Can you imagine the mattresses that would burn if we lost to S Alabama? I really want to see the freshmen QBs play, but losing this game was not an option and Butch really believed Worley gave the best chance to win.

So basically you're saying you don't see improvement? Anywhere? At all?

Would have liked to see us hold off on the fake fg until we're playing a league game and in need of a momentum shift, but that's about it.

Exactly. You shouldnÂ’t have to run a fake FG against a team that (1) is in their first full year in FBS; (2) lost to Southern Utah this year; and (3) was playing Hargrave Military Academy a few years ago. This team has not progressed enough to take on this upcoming schedule. I like Coach Jones, but disappointed his staff didnÂ’t make key adjustments to the attack put on in the second half by USA. I hope that they can get it figured out this week from Sunday to Friday so that it shows on Saturday.

Seriously guy, you just need to stop. Or please, do tell us how you would be coaching this team differently and showing vast improvement

I am glad that nobody can tell people what to do on this board. People have different opinions and we still have freedom of speech. How dare you try to be a dictator on this board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ignore button does not work but I would love a dislike button that took likes away and reveals totals in negative numbers then we would know which posters to avoid...

Time. Gonna take time. CBJ can not turn around 5 years over night or in one season, no one can. It will happen. Keep the faith. Brick by Brick.

We get it you don't like CBJ. You don't have to show you in every thread letting people no it. We get it.

Butch has put himself in a no win situation. If Worley does go down and one of the freshman come in and do really well, the the fans will be saying you should have be playing the guy all along. If he comes in and sux they'll be saying you should have gotten him some time earlier.

The first scenario can be quickly forgiven. The second one, eh not so much.

agree 100%. most football fans anywhere will agree with this. a lot on here though won't. i have come to the conclusion that most fans on this place will refuse to see reality and make excuses. they did with fulmer and also with dooley. i for one can admit when i'm wrong and we probably never should have sent phil packing. who could have seen kiffin walking and hamilton so stupid that he shouldn't be given a job as a janitor. oh well time will tell, he is recruiting well. so far though 5 games in his best staff in the country is a joke at best.
