I'm hoping for a good winter storm, with everyone being safe. Then next weekend it's supposed to be 60 degrees, so hopefully winter is over after this nice snow fall

Unfortunately, the warm up coming next weekend is like the other warm ups so far in 2016: Temporary. Last week of February into March will be cold again.

Hows the upcoming tornado season looking to you guys? Just a guess I know.

I asked a meteorologist about how bad the Severe weather would be in the spring. He said that it is too early to say anything for certain, but he thinks that the Mid South could get mauled with Severe Thunderstorms. I asked him about the areas East of the Plateau and said that it's too hard to tell for this region.

As far as I can tell the RGEM seems to want to keep it snowing all Monday..I know our low for the night was supposed to be 18..my thermometer reads 14 right now

I have a lot of family that lives in north Alabama is the reason I was asking. Sounds like what I was thinking. This winter pattern reminded me some of 2011 IIRC. We got obliterated there that spring.

The 0z Sunday GFS run shows snow in the valley with heavy accumulation in the northern valley. In looking at the temps in the model it predicts we'll get the snow and then above freezing surface temps will come in Monday afternoon with evening rain dissolving the accumulation of snow. Based on this model we should start seeing snow in the valley late tomorrow night and overnight to Monday morning.

I'm real curious what the GGEM 0z run shows a bit later tonight.

North Knox County is also getting hit pretty good on the GFS.

Indeed... and as you said, if this model holds true, Anderson county should get a huge accumulation.

I'm not sure about that but it will be interesting to see the next two GGEM models.

Lol, Kyle said 1-2 inches over the area, then shows 1 model run showing 5.6 inches over Knoxville. Way to support your prediction there, buddy.

Aren't schools closed on Monday anyway because of the holiday?

Not colleges. At least not UT.

Edit: Sadly, I can't afford to miss a day of teaching. My syllabus is too chock full of killer papers; no fat to trim. Push this back a day so I can get out of class on Tuesday.

0z GFS run. If anyone lives in the Northwest corner of Anderson County, go ahead and prepare to get obliterated.

I'm in Southeast Morgan County, which by this model looks to get slammed too. Could be interesting. Kinda hoping for a decent snow to keep me from being able to go to work Tuesday lol. 4 day weekend sounds good.

I'd be shocked if UT closed.

Yeah I've already missed 2 M-W classes..one for snow and one for MLK day..but believe it or not I'm right on schedule on my syllabus..mostly because I gave them tons of material last week thinking we might miss some this coming week
