East Tennessee Weather

TWC is fairly accurate but I'll admit on tv they get overly dramatic when it comes to hurricanes, tornadoes, and winter storms. I blame most of that on it being TV and them trying to keep viewers. I mostly view their website and it's radar.

Wow, that's a fairly egregious error. I'd try 1Weather app, I've been using it for a couple years and have never seen an error like that. Their radar feature is also nice.

CN is farther north and east than Knoxville. So they often get a little more snow than we do. The last storm that hit Tuesday to Wednesday was mostly a bust in Knoxville but they got a couple inches at least I think. UT is just crazy and don't cancel classes for anything.

Does JC stand for Johnson City or Jeff City?

Latest HRRR run shows no snow in the southern or central valley and only an inch or so in the northern valley.

Latest RGEM run shows no snow accumulation in the extreme southern valley with anywhere from a trace to 3" for the rest of the valley.

And the latest GFS model run shows much less valley snow between the Sunday 0z and 6z models.

Looks like everything is trending north and less than expected in the valley. Personally I'd like to some positive change between the Sunday 0z GGEM model and the 12z model. If the 12z GGEM model shows the same trends as above, then I'm not going to get my hopes up for a decent snow here in the central valley.

I've seen that too. I was just looking through the local news Facebook pages and WATE 6 Storm Team had an interesting post.

Usually, I would be pissed at meteorologists who admit that they are nowcasting. However, with the uncertainties that still exist in this system, I would not blame them for doing it this time.

This area of snow from Rutledge back to Cookeville..is that a separate clipper system? It doesn't seem to be connected to the wider precip back in Clarksville?

JC, here's the quote from the NWS. I think this is what you were talking about.

MOISTURE WILL BEGIN TO RETURN TODAY
AS AREA OF ISENTROPIC LIFT OUT AHEAD OF APPROACHING LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM MOVES IN.

It doesn't show up right when I paste it

Current radar image... this precip is moving due east. Going to be fun watching this today for us weather nerds.

After every single person swung and missed on Friday, how can we know exactly what the f is gonna happen. We don't.

Actually that's not completely true. Many were expecting the clipper to produce some amount of accumulation in the central valley... The GGEM model nailed it for the most part.

RGEM was also with the GGEM if I remember correctly. I think what the guy was talking about is that the local meteorologists said a dusting for the Central Valley, and some areas obviously got way more than that.

We are now getting a sleet and snow mix here in Crossville. Surprisingly the humidity is only 48%! But it's coming down fairly steady. Seems the system has trended north though so I don't expect much as far as snow. It is 25 degrees currently.

Wait, it's mixing at 25 degrees? I sure hope this isn't the President's Day 2015 storm 2.0.

weird we are getting some sleet here in north Jeff County( I live on Cherokee Lake about a mile from Grainger county line) temp shows 19 degrees

there is a line of snow heading southeast stretching from Clinton to Cookeville..it appears to be holding together pretty well

Mixing, and now looks more like rain outside. The radar shows "snow." Last February 21st we had a huge ice storm that knocked power out for a week so I hope temperatures either warm up quick or it switches over to snow.
