East Tennessee Weather

With most of the 0z model runs out, here is my official snowfall accumulations forecast for tomorrow night into Sunday morning.

Valley and Plateau areas along and north of interstate 40 (Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Halls, Oneida, Crossville, ect): Up to 1 inch.

Valley areas south of Interstate 40 (Seymour, Maryville, Sevierville, Loudon, Athens, ect.): 2-4 inches.

Mountains above 2500 feet: 4-8 inches.

Todd Howell pretty much dismissed it for the majority of East TN except for the mountains. He called for less than an inch in Knoxville. The majority of the system will dump snow from the southern most parts of TN along the TN/GA border and on into north Georgia.

Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for the Southern Valley (counties south of Knox County). As I said earlier, the better accumulations will be found South of Interstate 40.

So Tri-Cities pretty much a bust then. The one time I'm off and actually hope it snows butthole deep to a giraffe. Figures.

I don't agree with that.

I believe I've said this before on here, but models are not a forecast. They are guidance. There's a lot more that goes into forecasting than just looking at models.

Agree they are guidance and looking days ahead but even once onshore they have struggled while being completely opposite of both sides of the spectrum and a day out. If you have to now cast every storm then the models are useless, even for an idea of guidance.

I have seen them be more correct than wrong but IMO that just isn't the case this year.

Southern valley might end up with a good snow out of this

DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Late season winter storm moves across the area tonight bringing
snowfall totals of up to an inch across much of the southern
Tennessee Valley along with totals of 2 to 4 inches across the
higher terrain of the Southern Plateau, Southeast Tennessee, and
Southwest North Carolina. Travel conditions may deteriorate this
evening and tonight, especially across the higher elevations,
secondary roads, bridges and overpasses. Temperatures should warm
enough Sunday to alleviate most travel issues by afternoon.

Freeze Warning is in effect for most of the area tonight, except
for far southeast Tennessee.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

Much colder temperatures are expected for this next week with
morning lows in the 20s most mornings with teens possible in
northeast Tennesse and Southwest Virginia Wednesday and Thursday
mornings. Another system dropping southeast from the Ohio Valley
late Monday through early Wednesday will bring a good chance of
accumulating snowfall to the higher elevations of southwest
Virginia and east Tennessee.

North of I-40 going to get shut out :(
