Eating and Drinking in Knoxville (merged)

Anybody been to the Orangery since they reopened? Thinking about treating my wife for her birthday...

I heard World Grotto closed. Not the best bar or anything, but I had some fun times there. Apparently it is going to be a dance club downstairs and a sports bar upstairs. Hopefully the new club keeps the cave decor but ditches the stinky pillows.

I'm buds with the guy who bought the place. Latitude 35 is the new joint. Classy sports pub upstairs, dancing lower level. Breakfast til 5am.

if you like the Hooters ambience
That is what I was getting at but in Knoxville you never know what kind of experience you are going to get. I have been in a few "gimmick" places here and have been less than impressed.

We decided to hit RouXBarb for my wife's birthday dinner and were treated to another fantastic meal. IMO, it's the best grub in K-town. Bruce was ultra-cool and treated us to an extra-special "dessert," courtesy of Tennessee's finest hill-dwellers.

Gentlemen, it's almost that time again.

As a veteran of many a Valentine's Day dinner, I have found that it certainly pays to book a reservation around a month in advance, because it just ain't worth the hassle of coming up with a terrible option F to eat at.

Anyway, anybody care to share where they are planning to go? I'm still in the planning stages.

Nothing says "I love you" like the Olive Garden...

Just saw PF Changs has added 2 for 39.95 to their menu permanently. Thats for 2 soups, an app, 2 entrees, and two desserts. not bad for a poor grad like myself

I think we may go to the candlelight dinner and acoustic performance by Erick Baker at the Square Room/Cafe 4.

Naples, Altruda's, or Savelli's?

Or anything else for your favorite Italian in Knoxville?

savellis gives off the little italy hole in the wall vibe to it. bring your own wine and theres usually one waiter.

naples has the please come here we really dont want to close down vibe.

I drove by earthfare today. i have never seen so many people at a grocery store in my life. probably shows the need of more quality grocery stores in knoxville

I went there to pick up some Spanish chorizo the other day. Very interesting place. Expensive but its the only place I can get authentic Spanish chorizo. Wish Knoxville would get a Trader Joe's.
