Well Ford got a 25% pay increase and other goodies. Prices are gonna sky rocket

I don’t see how they could get more expensive with interest rates where they are. Right now an F-250XL diesel 4x4 crew cab (work truck) is almost $70k, if you can’t pay cash I don’t see how the average person can afford the payments.

They can't. Except with a 96 month loan

IDK but I doubt they eat this.

I don’t know either.
Pulled this. Guess their profits will shrink. Tough time when they invest in EV plants and tooling. Probably relying on gov subsidies and handouts

It depends a bit on what you mean by “actually cost”. On average, the raw materials that physically go into the car are about 47%, and the direct labor to build the car is about 21% of the car's value . So in a sense, you could say that the physical cost to manufacture a $50,000 car is about $34,000.

I don’t believe the first post. Too much margin for high volume and competitive industry

But then you have to figure in dealer cost and the continual advertising. IDK much about the car business but my brother in law is the General Manager of a GM dealership in AR and he makes stupid money. Hell, when he was the F&I manager he was pulling in over 400K.

So there is a f^ck load of money being made in the car business.

These prices are far outpacing your avg consumer, but the used market doesn’t help much with financing rates around 6-8%.

Ford executives are already talking about the need to offset the higher expenses in its latest deal. The automaker has said the UAW contract would add $850 to $900 per vehicle in additional costs.

“We have work to do,” Ford Chief Financial Officer John Lawler said last week. “We have to identify efficiencies. We have to increase productivity. It is a record contract.”

Layoffs will be a coming.

Welcome back to the big union days of the 50s and 60s. Get ready to really see some inflationary times ... until the jobs go away.
