Taxes to pay for road maintenance are not charged at purchase. You should not enjoy a dpecial exemption from paying for the maintenance of roads because you bought an EV.

Roundabouts suck. They're putting them in all over AZ now. No doubt the idea is to eliminate maintenance costs for traffic lights, but too many idiots don't understand how to drive through the roundabouts.

They aren’t perfect but at high congestion intersections with 2 stop signs you could be there all day with the mass influx of folks we’re for some reason experiencing.

I only mock the phrase when it's abused and actually means "Let's have you pay for your share and everyone else's." Historically, that's been a pretty common abuse, imho.

As a conservative, I'm all for everyone actually paying their fair share.

EV owners should pay taxes to maintain roads just like ICE car owners pay through fuel purchases. Once they eliminate federal fuel taxes (never), then they should eliminate this new equivalent tax on EV's.

That's an interesting argument. It might if it further increases our debt. But taking in more money doesn't necessitate more spending that would increase the size of the government.

If more money=more government a larger GDP with the same taxes would also generate a larger government under this argument.

I've always felt the gas tax was bogus as both sides use it as a political pawn but never cut it to drop gas prices

Easy, fill out the fuel tax forms like commercial vehicles have to.
