‘23 EN TE Emmanuel Okoye (Tennessee commit)

I'd say unless we can get a solid backup at TE from the portal, I think taking a raw, very athletic guy would be good. If CJH can develop him it could add to an even more lethal scheme.

Honestly, I think I’d rather have Okoye either way…an incredible athlete that hasnt scratched the surface of his potential and has four years left versus a (most likely) less talented guy from the portal with maybe two years of eligibility…I say go with the talented kid…we shouldn’t need him this year anyway

I tend to agree. The way this staff has shown the ability to develop, I am not too worried about taking a raw prospect or two.

According to 247, he's the #1 prospect from England. winking emoji

I don't know what that says about him but whatever Hype decides on I'm in agreeance.

Not that every individual embodies it, but Nigerians who have escaped their country tend to reflect a very high work ethic and strong moral values. If that describes Emmanuel, then we'll want him in our locker room, classroom, and weight room right now, and on the field whenever he's prepared.

Sad that “escaped” can be said about a place like Nigeria. So much culture and potential but hamstrung by ineffective government, the legacies of colonialism, and the depredations of Boko Haram and their ilk.

I’d rather take both. It’d be nice to have 3 guys at the position we know are entering the season healthy with some college experience then gradually work Davis into the lineup as he gets healthy and improves on blocking

I just got around to watching the Hudl film...the last play is absolutely hilarious to me...they give Okoye credit for the blocked punt but if you watch it's actually the outside rusher that de-cleats the lead blocker all the way back to the punter blocking the punt in the process...it's like something off a blooper reel
