ESPN likes Arky State's chances

If our QB can hit 60 percent of his passes we will win at least 7 if QB play is not up to par we will win 4.

QB play won't be the deciding factor this year. We are stacked at QB compared to other positions, particular both lines. When you see how easily we get manhandled in the trenches this year you will forget all about who's playing QB. 6 wins is the top side...
We will know for sure if Butch is legit if we are bowl eligible.

If you have four quarterbacks you don't have one. Gibson is our qb of the future. Worley will be a pretty good game manager.

No you can't get it thru your thick head that jones was left a steaming, hot pile of dog manure. The experts see this but you don't. They also believe that CBC can coach based on his history. Give the man a chance and stop the saber rattling.

No one is saber rattling.....just expecting coaches to get us more competitive...and talent is no longer an excuse. Have you overlooked the coaching?? Because Butch gets it??
I like CBJ, but this season...with the talent we have...he should get us to at least 6-6...Arky state included. Give the man a chance?...This is his chance!

The observation that Tennessee does not have an established Quarterback as a basis for denigrating the Vols chances this years really bugs me. Last year Worley was improving steadily before his injury, Peterman had a bad case of stage fright against a very good defense, Ferguson due to injury never got a shot and true freshman Dobbs did OK considering the circumstances. This spring at the OW game the 3 QBS that played last year were much stronger, more accurate and more fluid than last year. I don't see CBJ's not declaring a starter as a weakness he just wants to keep his options open for as long as he can. As he said a QB can improve dramatically over a summer, so why name a starter now and then have to demote him in August.

Maybe because we're coming out of the worst 3 yr. run in our history and you guys are coming out of your best 3 yr. in history. Arkansas St. is the same as you. Either way we've heard the same rhetoric from the likes of Cincinnati, W. Ky. and NC State. I respect you as a fan(atic) of your team as we are but you will get lit.

I think Tennessee beats Arkansas State 42-21. I have a lot of respect for Arkansas State, going back to when they were in DlAA,(They will always be the Indians to me,I don't go for the PC sh ite)but Tennessee will have too much talent for them. ASU by the end of 2014 could find themselves playing in the New Orleans Bowl.

What was the name of that Kentucky school that was supposed to kick our ass last year....according to the "experts" too

I don't know how you could refute any of his points, there's nothing inaccurate about them.

His premise isn't the issue, it's his conclusion that is horribly suspect. You can't state negatives about only one team and positives of another and come to a relevant conclusion.

A walk on lt and true frosh rt is talent in place? Questions at qb and holes all over on defense is talent in place? The talking heads are trying to tell most of you something, but you want to ignore it.

If ASU happens to upset Tennessee you'll probably be happy as hell.:finger3: :machgun: Debbie Downers

It would rival epic losses to Rutgers in 1979 , Virginia in 1981, and Army in 1986. Wyoming in 2008 could have been predicted because coach Fulmer was fired that week.

Fail. UF had a good OL and DL last season. Their QB play was awful. We are nowhere near stacked at QB. In all honesty it bothers me a little bit that a starting QB has not been named already. It just goes to show how much more work needs to be done.

Good QB is absolutely detrimental to 6 wins and a bowl game.

This ain't gonna happen people! We will be up by at least 21 going into the 4 the quarter and the game will get worse from there. Total BS that people keep saying that Jones can't coach when his history says he can. He has shown in the past that he starts winning year 2. This year with this talent I think he'll win at least 7. I can't wait for the season to start so we can get rid of these "articles" and start beating up on Some people ASU included.

From ESPN

The Vols could be in for real trouble with this one.

IF he can coach... then he will. Stop making excuses ahead of time for potential bad losses. And a loss to Arkansas State would be WORSE than Dooley's loss to UK.

It will not surpass the loss to Wyoming that was on CPF's tenure.

I think they are taking a very non-optimistic approach to looking at Tennessee football the last few seasons. I do not like that approach. It is a very rare occasion that ESPN says anything good about TN anyway. I do not put much stock in ESPN's output. We will go 6-6 or 7-5 this year. The BIG ORANGE nation is rising and we will reign again soon! GO BIG ORANGE!

The "anything is possible" angle is just as valid for Arky St. as when we apply it to us vs. Alabama.

Having said that....I really don't see us losing this one. Lots can change between now and then, but like smokeycoon said, I think it turns out like Western Kentucky last year.
