ESPN thinks we go 4-8 next year

Comparing CBJ to Spurrier is one of the more insane things I have read on here. Spurrier won the ACC at Duke for crying out loud. Then he took over a UF program that was the Duke of the SEC and started winning IMMEDIATELY, and before it was all over, he had UF dominating the SEC and national scene with 7 SEC titles. After flirting with the NFL, he has taken a pathetic SC program and made them perinneal 11-game winners.

Butch Jones is closer to Lane Kiffin than Steve Spurrier at this point in his career, and it aint even close.

Lonely huh?....there there :cray:

IMHO this is how I see the Season shaking out.
i see 6-6 with a possible Surprise Win to take it to 7-6
** = possible Surprise Win

Win against Utah St. ( Close game in the 4th win by 7)
Win against Ark. St. ( Close at Half but i believe we pull it out by 14)
Loss to Oklahoma ( probably down by 10 at half losing by 20 in the end)
Loss against Georgia ** ( Tight ball game all the way to the Wire, lose by 3)
Win against Florida ( Redemption for 9 years, Solid Team Effort win by 10)
Win against Chatt. ( 1st Team Shines First Half, Second Team Mops up win by 24
Loss to Ole Miss. ** ( Young team looks ahead to Bama lose by 4)
Loss to Bama ( Closer than think for 1st half, emotion runs out lose by 21)
Loss to S.C. (Ole Ball Coach will have them ready for Redemption loss by 14
Win against Kentucky ( We Return to Owning Kentucky Win by 21)
Loss to Mizz. ( Offensive Speed, wears on the young D. Loss by 9)
Win against Vandy ( Coach Puts the Pedal Down and Doesn't let up Win by 24)

But it does put us Bowl Eligible

But in my Homer Heart 10-2

Mizzou is a shell of last years team. They lost at least 7 starters on d...all the good ones. They lost QB (Mauk is good though), RBs 2 of 3, all 3 starting WRs, and a few on the oline as well. With our speed upgrade and home game, we win this one by 14.

If it is close, we beat UGA. They tend to play down to competition.

USCe...Depends on if leadership void is filled. They lost Shaw, Clowney, Quarles, WR and a few other starters. They should have good depth though.

UT has so many losing streaks going, so you're really going to go there?

I've learned to skip right past that guys posts after the whole Peyton Manning stopped by Bama thread... it was beyond asinine...if thats the avg UT fan,the rest of us have a lot of making up to do in the reality area...

You don't remember how a true FR in 1994 was way in over his head against Bama?

He did OK. He was a busted 4th down play away from going 4-0 against those guys.

I think he's referring to the thread about Peyton meeting with Saban a few weeks back.

Hey, Bama lost to Auburn and Oklahoma. As far as Grow Vol's concerned, thay completely negates the last seven Bama-UT results.

No, all it means is that, maybe(few) VN posters will point out Bama's losses, etc to you.....while you are trolling/ kicking us when we are down and consistently making points that further remind us how great Bama has been/is. What is sad...is that instead of spending time on Bama boards talking about Cocker/OL,etc....you are here....reminding us how bad we suck and will suck. How can do you negate that?

From what I have seen so far, most of CBJs recruits are playing better than their star ratings. So our team will be more talented than most think. Like Auburn last year, we will pull some upsets next year...1-3 I'm guessing.

Does anybody in the league have better WRs than us? TEs are top 3 in the league too. Our LBs and Secondary will be far better than last year. Everyone else will be at least average in the league!

Oh and lets all thank ESPN for firing up the team between Spring and Summer practices. I'm sure they will try extra hard to prove the haters wrong next season, including a 110% effort on S&C this Spring!

GBO!

I can't understand what anyone in the know would think this Kiffin thing matters or for that matter benefits Tennessee. He actually is a pretty good offensive and QB coach.
" In the know" being the key phrase here...

sorry Boca, not referring to you... I was talking to you,I can see how you saw it that way though... that was my fault,I should have seen how that read out on a screen...
Bamawriter hit it right about what I was referring to...

That's the word on the street...but he got fired at uscW because his team couldn't score. And they scored a lot more after kiffen was fired.

I just think he is a clubhouse cancer and player demotivator.

Outside of the obvious recruiting differences in Florida ,wouldn't the Duke of the SEC be Vandy??

Didn't someone post a link earlier from ESPN saying we beat one of the big three in the east and get to a bowl?

It takes years to build a winning program in the sec. We will be in year two. In another two years we will be capable of achieving a 7 maybe 8 win season. Not this year. Not the year after.

8 wins will be more than doable in '15...

IMO, Utah St, Ark St, UTC, UK, and Vandy are wins. Surely CBJ can snag just one win from the remaining opponents who are not named Oklahoma or Alabama.

My. Bet would Missouri and I'd say Florida is possible as well. It's not out of the realm of possible that Ole Miss and South Carolina could be wins.

I disagree, don't believe we are that far away. I think our conference gets too much credit sometimes. We play 12 games nowadays, winning 7 or 8 shouldn't be that difficult.

you were referencing USCjr.. in which it took him 6 years to get that program where it is now.. not that it isn't amazing that he was able to do it.

And at UF.. he did that with a roster that zook had already pulled from the gutter..

Huh? What does Zook have to do with anything? He followed Spurrier at UF, you're confused. Look, someone compared CBJ to Spurrier. I pointed out how ridiculous that was and cited Spurrier's amazing run at Duke, UF and SC. You stated he didn't win right away. Yes he did!

CBJ needs about 5 SEC titles and a few national title experiences before he can even be mentioned in the same sentence with Spurrier. He was 5-7 in his first year, and was average at Cincinnati. Ease up on comparing his to legendary SEC coaches.

Remember we were a few plays away from going OT with South Alabama too.

sorry man, you're drinking Spurrier juice. It took him 6 seasons to reach double digit wins at USC jr. That's a program with 2 bowl wins and 3 winning seasons out of the 5 previous seasons before he arrived. He did a 1 game improvement year 1, managed to eek that up to 8 in his second year(Lou Holtz won 8 in his second year after going 0-11) and sunk back down to 6-6 in year 3. (Holtz won 9 in year 3) So pretty much he floated around par until his 7th year where he is now reeling off double digit wins consistently.

As for Duke he topped off at 8 wins and lost his only bowl game. Not exactly a world beater. I'd call Franklin's job at Vandy and Cut's job at Duke more than marginally better.
