Evaluating Martin's recruiting

Oh wow, 2 have us barely in the top 30. Top 150? Again wow, How much production do you think the 150th best player in his class gives in the SEC? You think that is a guy that gets like 15 a night? This isn't football, You are signing 3 or 4 guys a year.

You said we aren't top 30, I showed you that you were wrong, get over it.

If you're expecting us to sign classes similar to Kentucky then get off your damn high horse because it isn't going to happen.

How about using some facts and numbers like I have, talent wise we are getting good talent for the SEC. We are getting good enough talent to be top 5 in the SEC, that's where we need to be a where the bar is set..:eek:nce again, if you're wanting classes the are gonna rival UKs don't hold your breath.

No rephrase: HOLD YOUR BREATH!

Would be willing to bet 9 out of 10 schools would take Stokes, Hubbs, and Richardson to lead their team. And Davis and Thompsom are solid 3 stars. Thomp. might creap inside the top 150. Sure would be nice if folks would stop thinkin that because we were blessed with a few good season, we are a basketball powerhouse. And should be getting all 4's and 5's. He has recuited fine. Not lets see if that can translate to w's in the post season.

We ought to be getting mainly 4 star players. We should whipping programs like Alabama on the recruiting trail.

Why? What in our program history makes us so much more superior than say Bama?

We've been to the same number of championship games, final fours and elite 8s. They've been to more sweet 16s than we have and have more NBA players than we have....so what makes the Tennessee basketball program superior to the point we should be whipping them on the recruiting trail?

You didn't prove me wrong at all. We are not ranked in the top 30 on rivals. I was exactly correct. If you wanted me to prove wrong, you would have listed the top recruiting site. You didn't, I was right. We aren't getting good talent at all. We aren't top 5 in the SEC cumulatively over Martin's tenure either. We might be 7th after Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, and Missouri. Not sure that we are even ahead of Georgia cumulatively since Martin got here.

No, because we have a beautiful 20,000 seat stadium to Arena to recruit to and we have had some solid success recently. Anthony Grant is a great example. He is just a little bit better coach AND recruiter than Martin, and hes not that good.

Devin Davis
Luke Fischer
Collin Hartman

All three stars, and all signed with Indiana. What makes us special enough to deserve all 4 stars, here at UT?

If you knew jack you'd know Scout is actually top for basketball and rivals football, however you didn't specify either one you simply said aren't ranked top 30 which they are...you were wrong, period.

How many SEC teams have signed two 5* in the last 3 years, I'll wait...

They like 7 guys and 4 are 4 star or better according to my memory of seeing their class. Gues what the word MOST means.

Coleman coliseum holds over 15k, not likes it's some high school gym.

How many haven't signed a single 4 star? Rivals is the top recruiting sight period. Go type in a players name and see if rivals or scout types up in the predictive search results. It doesn't matter which one you think is better, rivals is the most popular. Period. I need to specify anything. If the site I am talking about doesnt have them in the top 30, than I am correct.

I'm really getting tired of the trolling BTW. If your arguments are that 3 stars and the occasional 5 star is going to get it done with a guy who coaches the Xs and Os so poorly, and is so poor at the emotional part of the game, I just feel sorry for you guys.

Actually Coleman Coliseum is a dump. It is a terrible dark and dingy dump. They dont support basketball at the same level as Tennessee fans do, and our success was much more recent.

You were wrong get over it...the players you listed in your OP and said they'd go 5-13 was such a dumb statement and now you're so deep in you're just trolling at this point.

The fact is that's a talented team, the most talented? No. However, it's a lot more talented than the majority of SEC teams...if its not provide some facts. You tried to provide one by saying this class isn't top 30, but yet it is, so try again with facts. The fact is, stokes, Hubbs, Richardson, Davis and thompson all had SEC offers and were wanted by SEC schools FACT.

You listed our top 6 in 2014 (without including freshman) as two 5* and four 3*...look at the SEC rosters this year and tell me how many teams had a more talented top 6 than that, I'll wait...

Yea make sure you ignore the rest of the post since it doesn't fit your agenda...I'll repost that part for you...

So let's look at 3 recruiting classes without thinking about what he inherited etc. etc. etc. Let's pretend the '13 class plays to their rankings and Stokes sticks around.

PG Thompson
SG Hubbs
SF Richardson
PF Davis
C Stokes

6th man- Armani Moore

Bench: Mackanjuela, Chevious, Reese, Edwards, Landry

To me the Bench above are never going to be much of contributors. I just don't see really any talent there.

That's a really bad team above. Like 4-14, 5-13 in league play bad.

So his '14 class is going to have multiple immediate impact players even if the '13 class pans out. He's not in a very good spot.

Just going to simply say WHAT?!

A 3 star ranking is not a positive for this school. Jarnell Stokes was a 5 star but he is not a 5 star talent. So there is no mystery about stokes. He isn't ever going to be a good offensive player. He's an average defender and a very good rebounder. A 5 star every 2 years and a bunch of 3 stars is not going to work out.

Wow.

The part where you are the MOST wrong, is thinking that Thompson and Davis are good recruits and are supposed to be good players. They don't great offer lists, Davis' in particular is VERY pedestrian. So if those guys start as sophomores here and live up to their billing(which is not much) than we are in major trouble. The facts are what they are. You are trying to interpret them as saying that a 3 star player is supposed to be a really solid SEC starter, and I am telling you that they are supposed to be marginal role players. You are saying that the team I mentioned above for 2014-2015 is talented, I dont think it is at all. I think the scoring for that team would be atrocious. I think we are going to need to bring 2 or 3 very solid SEC freshman to be able to have a decent season the way things are looking.

Let me slow down for you......THE FACT THAT OUR SUCCESS WAS MORE RECENT. What do you not understand about that? Is that a difficult concept for you?

If you think two 5* and three 3* as your starting 5 is atrocious what do you think about most of the SECs starting 5s?

Like I've said, provide some facts...how many have a better/more talented starting five than two 5* and three 3*???

Davis and Thompson are similarly rated to Josh Richardson, and I'm pretty sure he'd play or start for most SEC teams. Any idea what Russ Smith was rated coming out of high school? Unrated 3*, but wait I thought 3* struggle to score, so that can't be?

Really? Who went to the NCAA tournament more recently? Who won a conference championship more recently? Who has more NBA players currently?

It would be really bad. You think this year's team was offensively challenged.

If you say so. You aren't factoring the potiential freshman coming in. Hubbs can score. JRich has improved his scoring every year. Thompson is a known scorer. So I don't get where you coming from with being challenged scoring. Stokes will average close to a double double. Thanks troll but you're wrong

You miss the point again, We dont need recruiting rankings to tell us how good the guys we already have are. We have seen them. When talking about recruiting rankings try to maybe stay with the guys we havent seen.

You seem to be stuck on being better than half of the teams in the league again, Even if that is true, how is being in the top half of the SEC good? Oh wait we dont have the tradition and history to expect any better right? As long as we finish 5th or 6th its fine. Great recruiting!
