Fear the Walking Dead

I think the scenario is fascinating...knowing more about the Walkers than the characters, and this being a high population area are big bonuses IMO.

And that first Walker chick was hot! :)

Beginning of the outbreak...zzzzz

Yes I knew that's what this was going to be. But part of the appeal to the Walking Dead is, it basically is showing us what happens after the movie ends, so to speak. That idea is fresh and pretty new, recycling the "beginning of the outbreak" idea will probably not keep my interest for long honestly.
Ill probably watch it since banshee is not on but I'm not real excited about an outbreak show either

A word of advice my friend… Stay away from receiving oral sex from a walker!

I'm hoping that this will explain how the US military and all the law-enforcement agencies were overrun so quickly. I just can't imagine that they would be that inept.

Rick was in a coma for three To four weeks correct? And the world went to hell in that short a period of time?

It was Georgia Doc...prolly didn't notice anything wrong until it was too late. :)

I don't think in "real life" it would happen that quickly, but I can see it spreading pretty fast considering how long it would take before people realized how bad it was.

I compare this to The Strain, where it seems a bit more realistic (the outbreak spreading, not the premise). So far it's spreading and some panic is happening, but life is also sort of going on normally. Though in The Strain, right now the outbreak is just in parts of NYC.

Careful, Walking Dead fans are like ravenous Zombies, criticize it and they will bite you. Then they will yell about how all you care about are bullets and zombies. Lol

Lighten up Francis. :)

Even after watching all the zombie movies over the years I personally haven't grown tired of the "initial outbreak" portion of the apocalypse stories. Each show runner has their own take on the scenario so you never really see the same story twice. This has potential because everything is just going to get worse from here and more violent.

My only complaint would be why is it necessary for Hollywood to start out these new shows with "broken"(drug addict) characters? It's like the new trend or something.

Stop being so sensitive woman. :)

Random question, you still watching Falling Skies?

Naw, we've moved on to a more violent approach...stay in at night...:)

Fwiw, a zombie outbreak IRL, even in a metro area, would be easily suppressed once people became organized. Way too many military reserve outposts and rednecks with guns for zeds to overtake the whole country; Murica!

Currently in the middle of the pilot - I dig it so far. Was expecting it to be slow so my focus has been more on the acting chops of the new cast and character development. Nothing negative to say - looking forward to what Kirkman is going to do with a blank canvas

I guess it would depend on how quickly people caught onto the problem. First they need to figure out that the zombies are dead, then realize only head shots take them out. I could see the metro areas falling fairly quick. But once people were able to fall back and regroup outside of the metro areas I'm sure they could organize enough to go back and clear out the zombies.

fwiw, I've already seen tons of people on the imdb boards complaining about not enough action or zombies. I'm not sure what they want out of a show. Lol. Here you go 60 minutes of gore. I'd be bored out of my mind. I like gore too but come on. The imdb boards were pathetic last night. It was a pilot what did they expect?

In this case, also that just dying starts it...big jump there.

Mostly I think it will show how society falls apart. I'm excited, I think it will be great.. Was kinda wanting to know how everyone got the virus...but I remembered in TWD the docs didn't know so they wouldn't know here either... I think it's gonna be a fine series..

Really solid first episode. It was a bit drawn out but that's to be expected while building character backgrounds. This show has some legs and I think it will develop some strong story arcs.

We discussed this at length in the TWD forum and I think even Chris Hardwick discussed it on The Talking Dead. In an unsupervised coma 2 weeks would be pushing it in terms of survival without fluids. So max, 2 weeks after the last IV bag runs dry.

Yes.

Your best bet, especially in a densely populated area like LA, is to get out of the city BEFORE the crap hits the fan.

It'll be interesting to see how much the national guard actually becomes a problem for the general public in this show.

Initial ratings have it at a 10.1 rating. Not as high as I thought, but if true it's the highest premiere in cable history.
