Fear the Walking Dead

The Pilot was actually better than I expected. I'm excited to see how everything goes down. I'm curious to see how long it takes them to realize that everyone is infected and will turn whenever someone dies. I think that's the reason the Army, cops, etc. failed to control it. TWD is one of the slowest shows I have ever watched but I do enjoy about half of the show, so I still continue to watch it week after weekl. I'm curious to see the series finale and to see how the wrap this series up (if they ever do...lol)

That was my biggest problem with it. News travels too fast for the kids to be the ones telling disbelieving adults like they are damn Goonies or something. Other than that i thought the pilot was good.

I guess it depends if there is some misinformation cover-up campaign going on. Even when they were watching the video of the guy getting shot by the cops the comments were "he must be on something". No one was thinking this guy was a zombie. Any internet rumors could be dismissed by the mainstream media.

One thing that bothered me about the pilot was all the fake-out moments like the principal leaning over and not responding for a second. Or the old man in the hospital. Those were cheap gags.

I'm kind of waiting for violent riots to break out in LA and the police/military to start "killing" lots of people before they know that they're going to get back up.

Rick's group didn't know until the after the farm I think. Rick was told at the CDC but keep it to himself. So I guess I'm saying it will probably we a while before its common knowledge. Either that or everybody in the main show was just living under a rock.

Start of school for teacher and guidance counselor then add near death of drug addict son, I can see how they might not pay much attention to the news...

The drug dealer who keeps moving despite multiple fatal level injuries has to be a big eye opener though...

Very interested in this next episode...

I would have liked to have seen the VERY first mention of the outbreak.
How did the really nervous kid know about anything well enough to feel like he needed a knife in school? I felt like they blew past that too quickly. If it was something they thought was real, they should have included some dialogue about what he was even talking about between the adults. If they hadn't heard anything about it, in real life they would have talked about how he was a lunatic.

Like I said, I enjoyed this pilot more than TWD's. I wasn't even really looking forward to this series, but I'm excited to watch Sunday.

You saw the alleged first mention of the outbreak in the pilot episode with the guy attacking the first responder on the internet video. Truth be told the very first few turns wouldn't have been reported on just like in Nick's case that happened in the abandoned church. The main news probably hasn't reported anything yet because of a combination of police covering it up and the media's hesitancy to report on something outlandish like people coming back to life. As for the kid knowing all this stuff, he's just a book/movie fan who likes apocalyptic novels.

Queue the infamous reporter hesitantly saying the classic line of "remove the head or destroy the brain".

Just as with the characters in TWD, it's frustrating to watch these people act so clueless at times

Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

So far I'm really liking this show.

Yeah, this episode was even better than the first.

I thought the principal was gonna get the kid before the guidance counselor reacted...glad it didn't happen that way.

I hope that the kid gets a role in the show. He has already shown intelligence, ingenuity and bravery...would be good to have a character that gets it...he definitely needs a bigger better knife! :hi:

The kid sure seems to have a lot of trouble getting ahold of a knife. A kitchen knife would be better than that tiny pocket knife he's so obsessed with.

Has anyone heard the theory that Breaking Bad is connected to TWD?
Probably just easter eggs for fans of both shows but it's interesting to see if they do tie the two together.

https://au.beamly.com/tv-news/2014/10/09/breaking-bad-prequel-walking-dead/

Kirkman was on the Nerdist podcast waaaaaaaayyyyy back in February, Chris Hardwick presented this theory and Kirkman made fun of him saying "I don't want to read your fanfic, Chris".

On a side note, on the same podcast Kirkman also said he pretty much knows how TWD will wrap up and pretty much said humanity will eventually win.

Not a bad episode, but seriously if you tell your daughter what's going on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th time she asks, you won't have to worry about her disobeying and unkowingly going into harm's way.

I really like episode 2 better than the "Pilot" only 4 episodes left.

Anyone notice they showed the jet in one scene I wonder if that's supposed to be the plane from the one shot coming up? I think they said that someone on it would eventually join FTWD in Season Two.

I agree but the mom doesn't really know what's going on. They said peoe are getting sick and then becoming violent. I guess she could have added that people that should be dead don't stop moving.

The rioting by people thinking the cops are just shooting unarmed people actually explains some of why the authorities fail to contain it. When the populace around them.is rioting and against them it would make it that much harder to slow it down.

Noticed that too! :w00t: What did she think? This was all going to blow over? And how come they're so early on the TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN...SCREW THE NEIGHBORS? It took Rick and his crew until the fourth season to reach that level.

So do they live in a world where zombies are not part of fiction?

Not sure but that's a criticism you can make about almost every zombie movie/show.

I think Z Nation is the only one that acknowledges zombie lore and that's half parody.
