Fear the Walking Dead

Not sure but that's a criticism you can make about almost every zombie movie/show.

I think Z Nation is the only one that acknowledges zombie lore and that's half parody.

Not really a fan of the genre in particular, just like the good stuff. Zombieland is my favorite and they say "zombie", but i guess it's uniquely stylistic.

That was more of a parody as opposed to a horror drama though.

Romero is still considered the Godfather of the genre and the his stuff and the things directly inspired by him (like TWD) have always had the characters play dumb to what the zombies are at first.

They need to slow down. This is the good part and I feel like they are blowing through it. Really a 24 style show would be cool with this. Real time.

Noticed that too! :w00t: What did she think? This was all going to blow over? And how come they're so early on the TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN...SCREW THE NEIGHBORS? It took Rick and his crew until the fourth season to reach that level.

Well for one its Los Angeles the other is Atlanta/rural South. We are known for helping out our fellow neighbors. JMO

Watch Dead Snow: Red vs Dead you're welcome

But I've seen a few movies that say Zombies and aware of what they are, usually parodies though. "Serious" Zombie flicks usually play dumb.

I'm not sure a people outside of doomsday prep folk will associate these events as zombies off the bat. Remember when the Miami guy ate a dudes face off and didn't go down after being shot several times? Does that not look like the beginning of this? Yes it does. Was it the start of a zombie event? No.

IIRC, people were saying zombies right away. Most of it was in jest, but that's immediately where people's minds went.

But they immediately bought the bath salts thing. Per the fat kid they had propaganda running to explain it as a fever so people thought it was a bad flu.

That was a good episode. I agree about the world without zombies. I kept waiting to hear someone say it. I mean at least mention it. You can't tell me they've never heard of zombies.

Yea, but at this point they don't really look like the stereotypical zombie. Even at the school Madison was trying to talk to the principle and didn't really do anything till he was trying to eat Tobias' face.

What's funny is nobody mentioned how fast that zombie moved that attacked the neighbor. I think that was probably a mistake on the zombie actor's part but they went with it.

I wonder about that. I remember in season 1 of The Walking Dead some of the walkers were running.

I think Robert Kirkman addressed that in an interview a couple years back. Said something along the lines of decreased mobility as they decompose.

In season one, some of the walkers CLIMBED! And turned doorknobs.

I guess this is right. IDK because my news outlet (reason.com) was saying bath salts was total BS. Also, the guy wasn't undead he just bit a face.

That would make sense except there's been plenty of fresh yet slow walkers. Cal was pretty much hot off the press but was quite slow. I'd like to think (in keeping with the story and some biology) that the easiest explanation would be not everybody is affected the same way. This way, different people can be more...well..."dead" than others regarding physical capability (at least in relation to decomp) and sparks of functioning intellect.

This also brings up the possibility of something really interesting...what about someone that might actually be at least partially immune to the pathogen? What about a "hybrid" that is infected but still partly, or even fully, cognizant?

I also still wonder about cold. It would seem very likely that something not generating it's own heat (or very low amounts thereof) would have great vulnerability to sub-freezing temperatures.

Well it wasn't a zombie per our current convo. He was also shot several times and tased without a reaction. It was crazy. #ballers

I love this show but there speeding past the best part . I love the realism of the police shootings and riots . That's totally believeable

I think it was talked about on The Talking Dead in that during winter they're mostly immobile or move very slow.

I think so too. This is the part I'd like the most focus on. When they showed the police with riot shields that was a great shot. I was digging the episode at that point.

I think the story line is very good...a family with a significant # of issues...pretty real.

Only the doomsday folk will get it immediately, but they're mostly in Montana and Idaho :)

They would make for a boring show.

Yeah a group of good ole farmers picking off zombies from 1000 yards plus, I'd still watch lol!

It's quite possible those ranchers out there wouldn't know what was going on for months after the world went to ****.
