Republican yes, dem hell noNot sure and in history, the political climate was completely different, so you would have different results. In today's environment we get a play by play, in the 70's we get a week to 2 week update. I am not sure any network covered the Senate Hearings in full coverage. I was there at the time so I saw it first hand. Today it would be on full coverage by multiple outlets and detailed commentary.
So the answer is yes and no regarding the govt weaponizing to go after a man depends on how you view it.
For example, see Nixon and the potential Republican Senate Vote regarding his impeachment. Goldwater told him he was gonna to be impeached if he did not resign. In today's political climate, Nixon would have never resigned. Trump may get convicted but will eventually get pardoned by a Democrat or a Republican.
Is there any other case in history where after finding out the govt was weaponized to go after one man, that people would only a few years later then believe that same govt acted in good faith to go after that same man again?
You don't understand: We've never had a man like the gangster, who makes Nixon look like a choir boy. The gangster is deeply corrupt and has no respect for the truth or the law or the national interests of the United States--PERIOD. You seem not to recognize that Trump lied for weeks as part of his scheme to overturn an American election--unprecedented and treasonous--and then incited a redneck mob to attack the U.S. Capitol---an attack that led to the deaths of several people. All caused by a PRESIDENT of the U.S., who sat in his office and watched the attack unfold //and did nothing.//
And that is only the most egregious of a laundry list of horrible things that the gangster did as president. And you think the government is the problem? Think again: Trump is the problem. He was told for months that he needed to return the documents---national security documents has got stashed in a bathroom, a ballroom and otherwise sitting around Mar-a-Lago. He lied and obstructed the government's effort to get back the documents. He broke laws and he got charged with breaking laws--as he should have.
The American people are getting what they deserve. They have choices. They don't have to keep nominating the likes of Donald Trump and Joe Biden ... but they do. They don't have to make a hyper-partisan media outlet, such as Fox News, who recently settled a defamation law suit for $787 million the highest rated network on cable television ... but they do.Congress and the media needs to be reformatted like a hard drive. The American people are the ones paying for all this BS.
MSNBC and CNN are truth tellers and not hyper partisan. The American people are getting what they deserve. They have choices. The media and the government will not change until the American people stop rewarding misconduct.
Sensitive? Just balance in your use of not acknowledging the term hyper-partisan in talking about the media. Your comment was proof that media manipulation is real.I didn't say anything about them. Fox News boasts the highest ratings, and so that's why they were mentioned. Quit being so damn sensitive.
Didn't you vote for Joe Biden? The American people are getting what they deserve. They have choices. They don't have to keep nominating the likes of Donald Trump and Joe Biden ... but they do. That is wrong. The Supreme Court forced Nixon to hand over the White House tapes to a federal district court, even though he was claiming executive privilege. There have to be limitations on what the President can do with our nation's most vital secrets. There has to be oversight of the Executive branch, with a system of checks and balances. So, who is over the Executive? This is the problem. This is why Courts have basically given the Executive unlimited power when it comes to this. This is why the SCOTUS will likely rule in favor of the Executive in this case.
