Final 3?

Hat, a few questions about Crawford and this class...

1) Can he play point at the D1 level?
2) Will he even qualify?
3) Is he worth a scholarship or are people still creaming over the two shots he made in Vegas?
4) Would continuing to pursue Vander Blue or hoping for good news on the Selby front be a better idea than signing Crawford?
5) How many frontcourt players should UT focus on in this class?
1. No.
2. That's an iffy proposition right now.
3. He's worth a scholarship, but making those two shots have resulted in him being rated much higher than his talent merits.
4. No, because I think they are completely out of the race for both players.
5. Personally, I'd take 3. Not sold that Kenny Hall is going to be a major contributor.

Didn't UCLA offer? Will be like a Duke Crews? Limited on offense, but brings energy and solid D.

He's more skilled than Crews, I just don't see anything outstanding when I watch him. He'll help, but plenty of SEC teams will have better players at that position.

I got a question for you hat.. Wall, Cousins, Miller, Patterson, Bledsoe is the best 5 group of players, as far as talent, Cal has ever had, right?.. Do you see a problem with the ball getting around enough to keep them all happy? Also, who do you think are their top 6 scorers? and their ppg

Easily. No. That's way too speculative a venture. Patterson and Wall will be 1-2, after that it's wide open. Miller will probably be third, but that's as far as I have any confidence going.

best ever? That Memphis crew that went to the finals was an incredible basketball team.

Regardless, if he can get these guys to play some D, he'll have no problems winning and keeping folks happy.

Sounds about right.. I still don't see how UK is being ranked in the top 5 by everyone but we'll see.. seems like if there were questions past those 3 that it would be kind of hard to put them anywhere near the top 5 right now

Yea they were def a better team, but I think it could be argued that talent wise they match up pretty well

Bradshaw thrived in Pearl's system when healthy. And Smith spent 3 years under Pearl, going from a walk-on to All-Conference. How much time did he need in Pearl's system for Pearl to get credit?

Ramar loved the weed more than b-ball, nothing you can do there, except show him the door. Chism has shown lesser improvement than, say, a Smith, but he is clearly better on the low post and has developed into a solid player that, yes, has some issues with consistantcy, not unusual at the college level.

As far as Tyler, his outside shooting is better, but he's also a guy that has pretty much hit his ceiling. As far as Hopson, this year will demonstrate his progress, but he definitely became more comfortable and productive as the season wore on.

Keep posting.
Not all of us bag on Pearl. Many of us recognize he is a great coach considering where we are as a basketball school and are hoping he stays through the next 10 years. Our recruiting class this year should be great and if he adds crawford we should have the depth to press and play all the time the way he wants to play.

How did Scotty Hopson become more productive and comfortable as the season wore on? He played shoddy defense (and that's being nice) all year, he was terrible from the free throw line all year and he was inconsistent from the field all year.

I am not going to argue that he isn't a great talent... he is, but a lot of his problem comes from a lack of motivation, especially on the defensive end, and when I say that is a coaching problem, that isn't "bagging" on Pearl, that is the damn truth.

Cousins and Miller will both score between 10-15 per night.

That may very well be true, but I wouldn't automatically rank them in the top 5..Will they be able to stop anyone from scoring? There will be a number of teams with atleast 4 players scoring double digits, not just UK

Come on. KY is top 5. You aren't going to name 5 better teams.

I'm just having a hard time putting them at top 5 status just off of a recruiting class. It's an awesome recruiting class, but I find it hard to believe that as the sole reason they are being put in the top 5 before the season even starts

It isn't the sole reason, but Cousins and Wall can play. Wall is likely the top pick next season. That's not based upon his recruit status.
