Finebaum putting out Oklahoma coming after Heupel

Kind of off topic but with Oklahoma's recent collapse this year, there has to be major concerns with them moving forward. Nebraska has really struggled in the B1G and they are not a marketable location to get recruits. I would not think about this a year ago but could Oklahoma fall into a Nebraska trap with their SEC move?
Would love to see that. Personally, I still don’t like Missouri or A&M in the SEC

I've been to Norman...

Knoxville > Norman, I don't care HOW MANY "Dead Presidents' someone waves under your nose...

They don't PRINT enough (and the last 2 years they've PRINTED A LOT!)
I have lived in both KTown and Norman. There is NO comparison possible between the two. Knoxville remains my favorite city......anywhere. A city that has southern charm and friendliness in a great location with everything. While Norman, OK ....
Sorry, no. Blistering summers, ice storms all winter and tornadoes 12 months a year. And whatever you want; Norman ain't got it. You have to go to OK City for everything.

It's just Finebaum's "opinion", trying to get more viewers or clicks. If Oklahoma does come after Heupel, it won't be anytime soon. You need to give a coach at least 3 years or no one else will want the job in the future. I could be wrong but I doubt that Heupel would craw back there. Does anyone watch this guy's show anymore?
I don't think he would since OU fired him.

Raise your hand if you would go back to an employer who fired you.

It certainly would not be a smart move.

With that said, our HC (no matter who it is), should never be ranked lower than 5th on the SEC salary list…and should always be within view of the top. Hype currently is 11th.

Let’s get this corrected and lock him up.

Another example of the WORST kind of thread on volnation.

The OP entirely mis-represents what his source (Finebaum in this case) says. He does it because he doesn't understand things very well, or because he wants to be salacious and get a lot of attention and traffic, or to curry favor with the fan base, or for whatever reason.

The point is, he completely misleads vn.com. And much of vn.com just gobbles it up without checking the source out for themselves. The handful who take the time to point out the truth are generally ignored.

So fiction becomes 'fact' yet again among the bulk of this on-line fan base. Years from now, folks will be talking about how Finebaum once tried to talk Heupel into leaving Tennessee for Oklahoma.

I'm no fan of Finebaum, but we should at least criticize him for the things he actually does, not the things someone invents about him.

Mods, I personally think these misleading kinds of threads are a place where you could do the community a great deal of good. Up to you, though.

Go Vols![/QUOTE

Nothing has been invented about Finebaum bringing up Heupel and OK.

Maybe do some research yourself first before lambasting the fine posters of VN and playing at at being a mod.

F-baum going to be F-baum...

Heupel said in the post-game LSU that he "loves (appreciates) this fan base" at least 8 or 10 times.
Said directly that the fans turned the "most threatening place to play in the SEC" into a home game for us and NO WHERE has a fan base like this.

I get it at the end of the day it's about the Benjamin's, but when you meet leaders like Heupel you realize that there is a LOT more that goes into it than just money...he's found that here in Knoxville and I firmly believe until he makes all his goals here, he's staying.

I’m pretty positive it’s in the works. I would guess 5th or 6th highest paid after the new contract.

Raise your hand if you would go back to an employer who fired you.

I would if the job offer was a position making me the boss of the one did the firing. I'd promote others he bullied and otherwise treated, and have them submit reports to me of every shortcoming of his. Then not fire him, just keep demoting him each time.

Making a list, checking it thrice, gonna find just how naughty with vice the sonvagun is. If you gonna get even, leaven the evening.

He wouldn't. My post is pro Heupel staying. It also acknowledges there will by many teams with Heupel high on the 'want' list.
This will be our time to prove we are a destination coaching job like many of our VN brethren have been claiming for years during our two decade drought. Pay him Saban money if you believe in him. Don’t let him leave under any circumstances.

Oklahoma would definitely be a long shot. I would be more concerned about the big boys than I would Oklahoma. You don’t think Ohio State would come after him in a heart beat if Ryan Day leaves for the NFL? Or Alabama. We are close to the end of the Saban era.

Heupel’s image is squeaky clean, his offense is the most exciting in college football and it puts butts in seats. He’s proving he can not only recruit at a high level but he can coach players up just as Saban did in his early years at Alabama.

I think DW is safe till the end of the year but he has to know $5 mil per year and an $8 million buyout isn’t going to detour anyone. It’s time to think long term and secure the future today.

There is literally nothing other than money that they can offer that we cannot, especially with Tennessee being one of the more NIL friendly states in the SEC. And it isn't like we can't offer more money either. Add in that he currently has a top ten team, a top ten recruiting class, and is absolutely cruising on offense.... why would he go to rebuild yet another program that is an absolute dumpster fire lol.

They may go after Stoops at Kentucky. He's done wonders with that program. When it came to football, Kentucky was just a stupider version of Vanderbilt but Stoops has managed to field several respectable teams there.

Off topic but that's a nice rig in your avatar
